Accord 2.2 ES GT
Hi just this week I have noticed my clutch starting to slip from 3rd gear up on my 08 accord 2.2I-DTEC ES GT,on my last 04 accord I had to replace the clutch and flywheel twice in the space of two years which I think was down to the garage I used, wasn't happy at all and now my 8th gen is starting to do the same I'm very disappointed as this is my second accord and again having clutch issues, so my brother thinks I mite get away with replacing just the clutch this time and leaving the flywheel, just need some advice on this as to what to do as don't want to be out a lot of money again over the same problem as my 04 accord, the car has never being remapped or drivin hard since I've owned her, need help also on where to get best price for new parts thanks

Just check the flywheel for play when you take the clutch out.

Normal tolerance of 6mm to 36mm applies.

If it's within tolerance and there are no abnormal rumbling noises etc it should be fine

Call Holdcroft Honda and tell the parts department either that Fahad sent you or that you're a member here. You should get a better price.

Tony are u 100% sure its definately on its way out .. As the pressure plates are self adjusting and sometimes a little slip is normal and will right itself in time ..... Quite a few posts on here mentioning this and ive had a similar scare on my 59 plate when it only had covered 24k in 4th under heavy acceleration , not had any slip so far on this one but how often is it happening ?

Wel I noticed slightly slipping in 5th a month ago but wasn't to bad then nothing now it is getting worse it's when I put he boot down in 3rd gear up ital slip quite often and worse when I hav a load in the car

Hi all,

My clutch is slipping but at 154k can't complain.

HH have given me cracking deal on clutch kit but debating whether should get this replaced at the dealer( £465 labour) or at find someone who is specialist in the Midlands area and charge half the price.

Does anyone know of a specialist that can do the job, who has the special clutch tool, and can load the clutch correctly. Or can you do it without the tool

Thanks

I'm not sure about this clutch tool at all.
I've chatted to my mechanic and the mechanic at my local ford/honda garage. They both felt it wasn't needed at all to load the clutch.
Now in fairness the Ford garage took over the Honda stuff, but I would ***ume that they would have access to whatever the recommended repair proceedure is for clutchs

Hello everyone, my name is Mark and this is my first post as a new member. I have been reading about some of you having clutch slip on your 8th generation Accords. Well, I bought my 4th Accord (a 59 plate ES-GT I-DTEC) in January with only 24700 miles on the clock. However, it must have been town and school run mileage!!
I had it remapped to stage one ( 180 bhp & 300 ftlbs of torque ) and within a month, the clutch started slipping. I enquired at Honda about getting a type S clutch fitted, and I'm happy to say that it WILL fit the standard car. I've had it done and it cost £826. So if any of you are considering having the type S clutch fitted, then go ahead :)

If changing clutch you do need the tool if you want your clutch to last any1 can change but i guarantee you it wont last as long as one set up with the adjustment tool

^Agree^

So many replacement clutches fail at low mileages purely because the pressure plates weren't set up properly during installation. I wonder if some inexperienced mechanics even realise that they do need to use a special tool?

Maybe they don't.
Going to Ford next week to get the aircon diagnosed. Will inquire again with them about the clutch replacement.
See if they are up to speed on Honda stuff yet :)
