A source of confusion.

I have a "6th generation" Accord - and yet it is called a Mk7 accord (in parts lists) and has a code number of CH7 in the VIN number.

Was there perhaps a zero'th generation, Mk1 ?

How does it work ?

Yes, I have also noticed that. Probably a glitch in the list that most parts shop use...

Yeah I've noticed sometimes the 8th gen is shown as an Accord IX, so 9th gen!

the 6th gen also sometimes comes up as 5th gen, or did before on some sites like amazon, its just shoddy software they use that has incorrect details.

I also think that it's due to confusion between the gen sequence in the US and the gen sequence in the UK (the latter also gets convoluted by the Rover-Honda era). The years of the US gens are different, and even for a same year and similar model, a Honda Accord in the US is different from a Honda Accord in the UK

For breakdown of the 3-character codes, see http://typeaccord.co.uk/forum/topic/19788-cl7cl8cl9cm1cm2cm3cn1cn2cu1cu2cu3cw1cw2cw3-etc/

(although I think that I got the 6th gen Saloon <--> Tourer mixed up)
