Accord Tourer Type S
Hi all,

Been a while since I've been on here, but I just wanted to pick your collective brains.

We're moving on our mk7 family type s wagon, and are a bit stuck for what to get next. For now, the wife has got herself a nice little 10th gen civic with an r18.

The obvious choice is an 8th gen tourer (accepting the boot is nowhere near as big), but ideally it would be a petrol manual, and that seems mega rare for a K24.

What are the R20s like in the tourer? Our first mk7 was a 2l tourer, but it was pretty under powered for the size of the car, especially when loaded up for camping. I'm quite impressed with the R18 in the civic to be honest, even though it's an eco engine, so wondered what the 2l version was like in the accord.

I know it's not going to come near the K24, but could maybe live with the better fuel economy if it's not too much of a trade off.

Also, how well do they respond to a remap? We had the K24 mapped via here, and it made a massive difference to the drivability / fun.

Ps, did consider an odyssey absolute, but hadn't made the cut.

Thanks

R20 is ok but nothing special really. If you can find a K24 they’re decent, and I’ve tuned a fair few with good results.

Best of the bunch as an all rounder is the IDTEC really but if you’re in the ULEZ then sadly not a viable option.

Nice one, thanks F6HAD.

For the diesel, is that from a tuning point of view or just generally it's better? Had a few hondas but never a diesel one.

Seen a few type s diesels come up for sale since I've been looking

Yes from a tuning, economy and overall package perspective really. They’re highly capable, dependable and easy to live with. If clean air zone is not an issue, for your needs as a load lugger I would suggest going for a diesel. They come in both manual and auto (Type S is manual only).
