8th gen wheels on 7th Gen

The car I have has 8th gen wheels on them. I think they literally came straight off as the wheels are 17" with a tyre profile of 50. Am I correct in saying the profile for 17" on a 7th Gen should actually be 45? If so what issues could cause if anything.
Toying with the idea of swapping them as well but thought I would ask the question

Yes Scott the tyres for 7th gen are a 45 profile for 17" wheels.
Handling might be an issue also your speedo will be out.
If you are doing 70mph on the speedo your true speed will be faster by around 3mph

Might be time to invest in some nice 17's and flog the 8th Gen ones

Good plan Scott as the standard 17" 8th gen ones are quite plan TBO.
You might get a good price on eBay for them.

Ive got 8th gen wheels on mine, and I had to get 45 profile tyres.

Looks like an option I will have to take. Really didn't think of checking the tyre profile when I bought it.

I think I would just use them until the tyres wear out unless you have a buyer for the tyres
