When I got the car it already had an ipod cable installed, which is in the cubby hole underneath the sat nav. We only have one ipod, which I think is a gen 2 so quite old but when I plug it in it says ok to disconnect and has a tick. Pressing the AUX button does nothing. It looks like the ipod isn't connecting properly but is this an issue with the cable or maybe the ipod is too old? I need to try and remove the trim to see how it's installed and what model it is.

The second issue is the radio reception, it's always breaking up or it repeats itself like an old stuck record. I know the aerial is in the rear window but is there anything that be done to fix this as I mainly have the radio on and it's really annoying now?

I noticed the radio reception is quite poor in my car too, much worse than my previous. Is this a common issue? And is there a way to improve it?

Yep my radio reception is rubbish! I was thinking about getting a digital aeriel/mod some how? Has anyone done this? To get DAB radio?

I take it there is no solution to this problem? It also seems to tune into other stations randomly, it could be playing a song and then cuts into a different one for a few seconds before going back!

To see what ipod adapter is fitted do I just need to remove the trim underneath the sat nav and is the auto any different to the manual as I found a guide for that?

I think its the traffic or news interrupt that switches the channel when there's a broadcast available, I've just got an accord and was getting really annoyed with that function of the stereo, think it's off now after going through the manual.

I have TA turned off though and it doesn't switch to traffic updates but to other songs. It's a shame cos the Accord has a great sound system, which is let down by the rubbish radio. I suppose they didn't fit an external aerial to give it a cleaner look.

I think that was the PTY function I read about, where it will switch to another channel playing similar stuff to what the PTY is set to, I messed about with my PTY as I had TA disabled and it was still switching channels as PTY was set to news, so it would change channel to any channel giving a news broadcast, have since set it to pop and it hasn't changed over again since (only drive 2 small distances since tho), not the best radio functions on these headunits from the looks of it.

To change the PTY option, I think it required holding the TA button for 2+ seconds, then using 4/5 buttons to change the PTY selection from news/pop/classical to whatever's desired.

Thanks mate I'll give that a go and hopefully it will work :)

I'm also looking for some help with the stereo, more on whether you can add a little bassbox to the standard headunit and if so, how to go about it? I've opened a new thread on that, hoping someone in the know can chip in on my thread who's done something similar

Mine started switching channels again today, anyone else know how to turn OFF all the radio channel switching, it's getting quite annoying now?

I tried what you said but it didn't work, still changing stations! :(

yep, same for me as well, we need help from someone more in the know on this I think as I've only had the car 2 weeks myself

Rich, for the iPod try press the cd button on the stereo. It will change to cd and if you push it again it brings up CDC and will play the iPod as that's how the xcarlink I have installed in mine.

The radio reception is rubbish but I never really listen to it enough to bother me

Hold the volume knob in for 2 or 3 seconds and the radio settings displays at the top where the temperature readings are.

Using the tune button press it in to change between the settings and turn the knob to adjust it. I have turned everything to ON apart from the first one, which is news. Touch wood that seems to have worked and I think it was turning the local setting to on that did it.

Press the volume button once you've finished.

Should it change to CD if there isn't a disc in there cos nothing happens when I press that button. Not actually tried a disc in there yet, I will do that tonight and see if it's actually working.

Nope nothing happens!

The CD changer works, I tried it last night and I can press the button to change it from the radio but pressing it again does nothing. Would it work even with no cable plugged in, if so maybe something has happened to it?

If it is an xcarlink does it have a fuse?

Once I've figured out how to remove the auto gearstick I'll remove the trim and take a look.

I just have to say, the Power for 2 sec's is what I needed, all options turned off other than rds info and now it's not flicking channels every 15 minutes for news alerts etc, great stuff cheers guys :D

I found turning them on did the same, it's been fine since - hasn't sorted the reception though! -_-

I finally got the chance to have a look at the ipod modulator yesterday. Everything seems to be plugged in ok and the fuses are fine but when I press the CD/AUX button it only ever stays on CD.

This is the modulator that had been installed.

I don't know if this is a fault of the soundlinx system or the actual AUX outputs on the headunit. There is also a Nokia handsfree kit installed there by the same company, which I want to remove. It looks like the company no longer exists though or has been rebranded, their website goes to Scorpion Automotive.

If I remove the handsfree kit does anyone know if I need to plug anything back in somewhere? The mic and window antenna are still installed so these need removing as well.

Where is this in the cabin? That brown trunking stuff is a serious bit of loom for the electrics. I bet moving the iPod interface away from that could fix your issue.

It's behind the DVD drive. Someone pointed out it's a FM modulator which I didn't spot so needs tuning via the radio. I did that and it's working now :)
