Hi All,

I recently had a friend swap out my N22A1 engine (con rod through the case).

Since he has replaced I have an ABS fault and no readings from both wheel sensors - would it be possible that there is just a loose plug connecting the rear sensors to the wiring loom under the bonnet? if so where should I look/test.

thanks

Robert

Is that based on a DTC code ?
I've put all the ABS codes for the CN1/CN2 cars somewhere, if you wish I can find the post so you can cross-ref codes

I cant remember if there was a DTC code i scanned it a couple n. its a delphi scanner i used and its generally pretty good with the data you get from it ill get a hold of it and scan again though when i get a chance - I have also read the real-time data from all 4 wheel sensors. both rear wheels aren't reporting any speed when driving but the front ones are. just trying to better understand the physical wiring of the abs system so i know what wires to check for continuity

Was that also with the Delphi ?
Note that DTCs can help to indicate if a circuit is open loop or a short.

Anyway, you can download the ESM here --> http://typeaccord.co.uk/forum/topic/19286-haynes-us-accord-workshop-manuals/page-2
Make sure you read the rest of the thread from that point onwards.

Circuit diagrams are in the ESM, findings bits of the loom in the ESM can be a bit tedious, depending on which bits.

Bit weird that both rear sensors have stopped working, as I'm fairly sure that each sensor connects independently to the ABS/VSA controller. Knowing the reported fault codes might help to understand the problem, as different codes are raised whether the individual sensor circuits are open-circuit, short-circuit or out-of-range, etc ... if for some reason your Delphi scanner won't do this then the system has built-in diagnostics that can be initiated by linking pins 4 & 9 of the vehicle diagnostic port (more info elsewhere on the forum if needed).

Thanks Fellas - it was reporting open circuit.........to add to my woes though it looks like the car might have mashed the box (lost 3 gears and speedo) so the ABS will have to be shelved until I get back on the road

Good luck in getting it all sorted. The gear issue will probably be the linkages not properly fitted, underneath the air filter box, and the speedo failure will be the sensor either not connected or (worse) refitted without the spacer so the sensor has been damaged (do check when replacing, or you'll just damage the new one!).

I had ***umed the friend doing this for you was a mechanic. But maybe not...
