I'm on the look for a decent accord type s, and noticed this car came up not far from me. I'm a bit curious why it's cheap and so low miles? Is there much that can go wrong with these motors around this mileage? What mileage does timing chain need replaced? What all will i look out for while looking at this car?
Thanks in advance..

Which car? :)

 forgottoputinyourlink.com ;)

But seriously, the Accord is somehow generally a very good value for money car on the second hand market. The 2.4 is relatively expensive to insure and tax which sometimes reduces its desirability and may reduce its resale value? That said, plenty of people drive them and love them ;) . But without knowing what price you're actually referring to, it's impossible to say.

I bought my 2.4 Exec 3 years ago with 33K on the clock for £5K in the South of England, if that's of any help.

Depends what side of ireland you're in. If you're paying £ then the road tax will be average, but i know of a guy from the republic who pays almost 900 euros for a years road tax on his 2.4 type s! Thats the main factor i'd be looking at first, could be a clue as to why its cheap, if its in the republic of course

Abs sensors (warning light comes on occasionally)
Penta's are made of cheese so check wheels for buckles.
paintwork is quite soft so stone chips will be normal
clutch normally lasts over 90k if treated well.
Handbrake / rear calipers sometimes stick though can be that the pads need removing and cleaning so they slide.
Tyre wear - some have camber issues and wear tyres on inner edges.
large flat doors so watch for damage / poor repairs

Other than that, they are superb cars, for the performance its pretty economical, my 04 was £245 RFL and got over 17,000 miles on a set of rear tyres - 14,000 on fronts.

Ditto this on the whole.

My ABS/VSA light used to come on about once a week. It would reset if I turned the car off and on again. It hasn't come on for about 4 months. It'll probably come on tomorrow now I've said this  . Most of the time, it's a £5 switch that connect to the brake pedal giving incorrect readings.

Don't have Pentas so couldn't comment, but have Epsilon alloys. They aren't painted, but diamond cut and lacquered. They corrode proper bad. Mine leak about 4 PSI a month now as a result of the corrosion and look ****** awful. I'll be replacing them with aftermarket alloys in the not too distant future.

Paintwork is weak. I live on the south coast and Seagull poo has ravaged my car. in the right light you can clearly see many, many burns in the paint from bird poo. There are plenty of stone chips too. Quite honestly the car could probably do with a respray. It's the Indigo Blue (like a purple/blue). I think it might be one of the weakest paint colour options. Still looks great at a glance though ;) .

regards the clutch, I bought my car with 33K on the clock and had to replace the clutch at 45K. Possibly my bad  .

The rear brakes will seize eventually. Preventative measure, get the rear brake hoses and pistons replaced before 75K in my opinion. It's not earth shatteringly expensive.

I've had no issues with the tyres wearing prematurely but have heard of this on other cars.

The tourer gets through roll bar bushes and drop links. Couldn't comment on the saloon. My tourer also had a snapped front roll bar. Don't know if that's common.

The DVDROM drive in the sat nav dies eventually. Mine went at about 50K. You can clean it (don't use a disc lens cleaner at all costs - dismantle and do by hand) but it will only delay the inevitable. When it goes your Honda dealer should remove and send away to Alpine or another independent specialist who can repair it. Mine cost me £220-£250 I forget the exact amount.

Otherwise I think most things have been fairly standard. Brakes, Discs, an O2 Sensor on the exhaust. For the age, it's to be expected.

Honestly despite what might seem like a fairly big list here, it's a wonderful car and when you consider the amount of toys and luxuries that go into the 2.4, that's not a lot of things going wrong. They're wonderful cars. I truly love mine. It was just serviced and the only issues were a number plate lightbulb and the rear wiper replacing. The car's 8 years old. That's pretty good reliability right there.

All I can say is I read this forum almost from top to bottom gleaning as much info as I could and didn't post up a " Advice on buying " and went and bought an 04 Type S ( yes it has issues but nothing i can't handle myself ) and I ****ing love it... not as exciting as my prelude but an awesome car.... and now three weeks later at least three people ask for advice on type s 's

BUY one and you'll love it too :D
