Air con not working in my 2008 7th Gen diesel and got a replacement compressor part price from Honda Ireland of €1546.

I previously replaced the compressor 6 years ago with one from a breakers that cost €80. Trying to figure out the most economical way to get my air con back up and running.

I'm reluctant to go to a breakers again as I'm thinking it is likely that due to the age of the compressor I get (newest being 2008 unit) it will either be not working or not last long.

Does anyone know if there is a cheaper third party compressor that can be used and where this can be sourced?

Alternatively is it possible to buy a reconditioned unit?

I'm based in Limerick, Ireland. Any advice appreciated. Thanks

This is what I do - it might work for you.

I find out the original Honda Part Number of the part I need.

I then do a Google search to find who made the OEM part.

I go and buy that part from an Auto Factors (NOT from Honda).

Classic example;

I needed a new Alternator - so I looked up the part on Honda Parts and the price was something like £987........yikes......

Google searched for who actually makes the alternators for 7th gen Honda Accords 2006 - turns out to be Denso (I think the model, of top of my head is a 1375).

Found the right part at AutoDoc..... actual cost...... £169.

My guess for yours is that it'll cost around £300 once you find out who actually made the OEM part for Honda.

(I guess that because in my experience Honda prices are sometimes as much as 10x what I end up paying or usually around 5x)

Good luck!
