Hi all.

I cant hear the vacuum sound for the air intake whilst driving (the whoosh type sound when accelerating). Car is driving fine, but im worried to why the sound has disappeared.

Is it the sensor?

Thanks in advance.

Just been told its the turbo and if i leave it like this can cause more damage to the engine. My accord has done 133k, but i think the mileage must be more as its to early for the turbo to be playing up.

I'd expect a turbo to be pretty knackered by 133k.

The one I've just removed whilst still making good boost, was fit for the bin only.

On the Honda's in my experience they're good for 200k miles easily if well maintained and I've actually seen one do 475k miles on a taxi that had religious oil changes every 6k.

But it's all down to the life it's had.

Get a second opinion because if this has happened just after your manifold repair its more likely they've left a vacuum line off or split it. Or the actuator itself might be faulty.

I bought my Accord when it was only 3 years old and it only had 49k on the clock. It was bought second hand private, so not sure how genuine the mileage was as there was no previous MOT's because it was coming upto its 1st ever MOT.

Since i've had the car, i've serviced/changed oil every 7-8000 miles and only ever used Castrol GTX 0-30W, i've recently been using the ***anium version.

The first time i noticed a change in the engine sound, when it start clattering alot and the air intake vacuum sound was also changing, but i could still hear it. After Honda changed the manifold, it was similar. I went on holiday for 2 weeks, returned and i couldnt hear the air intake kicking in, totally disappeared, but i can hear more of a low humming sound from the engine now whilst driving, something had definitely changed. Power is still fine, seems the same to me, fast acceleration as usual, mpg is same, oil levels fine.

What i would like to know is if the turbo dies, what damage can it do??? The Garage i went to told me parts could come loose in the turbo and enter the engine causing more damage?? is that true?? I've now go the impression he just trying to **** me up on purpose so he can do the job.

I use my Honda for cabbing, so i dont want to risk anything, hence why the garage probably tried something, but he might be telling the truth i dont know. Need some help on this asap please.

It'd do well to get shrapnel all the way through the intercooler and round to the intake.

If it's recently had the exhaust manifold removed, you'd think that any damage to the compressor wheel, or any play in the shaft would've been noticed.

This was mine at 148k. It had spat it's nut and smashed itself to bits.
