Hi, I was hoping somebody may she d abit of light on this...

I went through the whole DPF issue, got the exclamation light on the dash, brought it to my local garage where they did a regen. Two weeks later I got the light again and returned the car (2010 8th accord 80k)
they told me they had to remove the DPF and get it cleaned...
In each case the light came on and the car entered limp mode, I was unable to get it out of limp mode until it returned from the dealer.

Now I have the car back, randomly it will enter limp mode, this can be after 10 minutes driving or 1 hour driving. No light ever comes on. If I turn the car off and turn it on again I'm back with full power.
It has happened to me 8 or 9 times in the last few days.

I explained it to my dealer and they have driven the car for the last 3 days but they claim it never entered limp mode for them.
Yesterday I took it for a 1 hour drive and it happened to me twice!

The dealer says there are no faults or no entries in the ECU logs suggesting any problem.

Has anybody any ideas or suggestions?

When it enters limp mode do you get a warning light? If not then it's not limp mode.

You have a knackered DPF and its most likely restricting boost pressure momentarily..

Hard to diagnose without seeing the car but washing a DPF is a bad idea and never works. You need remove and remap or replace with a genuine new one.

Thanks Fahad

No I get no warning light of any kind.
It acts similar to when the DPF light was coming on initially, lack of power, cant use cruise control and the arrow indicator for shifting gears does not light up.

To be honest, I'm not sure what the garage finally ended up doing, it was with them for days and I got conflicting reports from them as to what they did.

Should the light always come on if it is a DPF problem?
Is there a chance they may have deactivated the light?

Wait your cruise and gear shift indicators don't work all the time or only when it does this? It sounds like they've been trying to mess with your ecu flash

Can you be clear on whether this car was at a Honda main dealer or a regular garage also please.

Please also get some clarity on exactly what was done. Have they perhaps gutted your DPF out and not told you?

Where are you located?

Cruise and shift indicators work most of the time but not when the car goes into that low power limp mode.

I brought it to my local garage but they in turn took it to a Honda main dealer. I am located in Ireland.

When you say gutted do you mean cleaned out or removed?

I mean removed internally..

Well something is defnintely not right then and I've not seen this specific issue before. If the cruise and shift indicators stop working then that is actually a limp mode but then you should be getting a diagnostic error.

The fact that you aren't suggests that someone has been trying to modify your ecu software.. But I doubt seriously a honda dealer would have the skill or knowledge to do that.

You need to get to the bottom of it by speaking to them..

Yeah as Fahad says, should be some error codes. Maybe get a 2nd opinion from another Honda dealer.

How much did it cost when you took it in? After a while you need to do forced regens (done by Honda) which are about £90. When it gets to this stage it's on its way out and will need to be replaced (about £1000). Do yourself a favour and get that crap out of your engine.

I am having this exact same problem, I have had egr and DPF removal/delete, what was the outcome did you et it fixed?
