Hi all

Having paid to have the oil pump and timing chain replaced on my tourer, she threw a big end within 800miles. Was always a gamble following the oil pump chain breakage, no matter how quick it was switched off.

Anyway, her replacement has been purchased for peanuts, 158k on clock, timing and oil pump chains done 40k ago :) but does have some issues that I need to get on top off.

First off the tailgate wouldn't open remotely, would close ok though, no obvious misalignment or stiction when opened manually. A bit of penetrating fluid followed by some spray grease up into the actuator has cured that problem, for now.

Second issue, bad vibration under load at 60-75 then disappears. If I'd have known at the point of purchase, I may have walked away. Moral......always do a high and low speed test drive!!!! Seeing as I still have the old Tourer (which didn't have vibration) both driveshafts will be transfered to the new Tourer. Can't see this being DMF as it's road speed related, not RPM related.

Now to the last issue, which I need some advice on. None of the front speakers work. Initially I thought this was due to a dodgy bluetooth install, so ripped the lot out (it was a mess) still no working front speakers though! So I pulled the complete dash unit out of the old Tourer put it in the new one, still nothing!!!!

So, I have a question. Is the amplifier for all the speakers integral to the CD/headunit/ centre console thing, or is it located elsewhere? I've tested the door speakers, so it's not them, I've changed the whole centre console for a known good one, it wasn't that, a remote amplifier is all I can think of?

Anyone got a wiring diagram??? :)

Cheers

Robin

When I bought my car don't have time check on motorway.I payed money and when I come on motorway, front started shaking at the same speed like yours,so after couple garages, just one found that driveshafts bouth gone.So I made order on refurbishment parts with warranty.
I think, that amplifier are in the unit.Personally on saloon, about tourer,I do not know.Maybe some front speakers cables are demage?
sorry for english;)

Thanks for the reply Tomas.

Yeah my money's on the driveshafts too. I'm lucky enough to have a donor car to swap parts from, so haven't looked at buying, suspect the cost of driveshafts isn't cheap!

After a bit more research, I believe you're correct, the amp is part of the audio unit. Although the amp output goes through a crossover, which could be the issue. Haven't managed to work out if this is integral or a separate unit somewhere yet though.
Continuity check of the wiring is next on my list, once I source a wiring diagram. Having said that, I think it unlikely that all four front speaker wires have been damage some how?

Thanks

Robin

For info on driveshaft vibrations read through Eric's thread in the DIY section

For info on the audio, best to go to the Lings Honda website and look through the drawings.
Start here , then eventually you'll get to something like this (this is my car)

I've selected lots of gubbins , list below , not all relevant (but hey ho)

Sweet, thanks for that.

Lists the amp separately, which is contradictory to most info I've seen. There is a unit fixed to the floor in front of the gear selector mechanism, I'll check it's part number later and report back.

Robin

Right,

Although I couldn't verify the part number, I can confirm for anyone who has an accord with a premium sound system fitted, the unit has a separate power amplifier mounted below the DVD player, just in front of the gear selector mechanism.

Just swapped the amp from my old tourer to the new one and hey presto, all speakers working again :D :D :D

Great stuff Robin thanks for the feedback :)
