Following advice I have a new pressure valve for the fuel rail I hope will solve the worsening starting issues on my 2.2 diesel MK7. I see I need the PAS pump off the get it out!
So, I also need to replace the PAS hose which is leaking and the aircon pump needs work...so do it all at one.
So far I have been unable to budge the belt tensioner, I can hardly get at it, my tensioner tool does not fir because the bolt head is almost recessed into the tensioner pully and spanners are short.nut
Any tips on tool/and which way the tensioner actually needs to move, it is not easy to see.
Getting a bit miffed at the moment!

Its done, made a tool in the end! Pig of a job the belt and I need to do it again for the air con compresser soon!
Anyway thanks for help on the starting...I think the valve on the fuel rail was it...early signs are starting as it should again...woo hoo. Sorry cant find original post amongst all the adverts I now get to thank the correct party directly.
Also done the leaky PAS hose at the same time.
Service, aircon compressor and treat it to a new belt next.

Great to hear, fingers crossed it’s solved

hi pal, sorry the thread revive. Have the same problem )+ bolt is a bit rounded) and i'm struggling to take the belt off. Do you mind sharing a photo/description of the tool that you made. And do should you go CW or CCW to relieve tension?

Thanks

Hi, no worries and sorry just seen the thread. I perhaps stupidly have let the car go to my daughters boyfriend! I may regret it because I think it was superb at what it did. The tool made was a simple flat bar with a ground down old 3/8 drive shallow hex socket welded on. (14mm socket from memory) This was narrow enough to wiggle onto the bolt head.....the bar starts pointed to the screen and is levered forwards.
I did find removing that bracket and pipe support I think it was from memory to the side of the ABS pump gave useful extra clearance. It was just one or two small bolts and clipped out the way with a cable tie.
As an aside......I have now bought cheaply a tool....being a flat bar with a 3/8 drive on the end............most old sockets can be ground a bit shorter and it has been useful since!

You need one of those long spanners next time, makes the job a lot easier
