I have owned an 05 diesel Accord sport saloon for the last 5 years. A bulb has blown for the first time (Dip) and According to the manual both the Dip and Main light bulb should be replaced with H1. Managed to get the Dip H1 bulb out (thanks to Matt's brilliant instuctions) but on checking both of the Mainbeam headlights the bulbs that are in there is a two prong H7 bulb and has a 3 pin plug suggesting (according to Honda dealer) a 3 prong H4 bulb could also fit. Is a 3 pin plug for the Mainbeam the normal set up on an 05 accord or should it be the same set up as the Dipbeam (single wire for H1 bulb).? Thanks.

Have you had the bulb out? The main bulbs have a weird kind of adapter on them that make it look like a different type, but is deffo h1 in mine.

Oh yeah I see it now. I never took the bulb out I just saw the two prongs (No 6 in the diagram. The socket bulb) and thought that was the end of an H7 bulb. The H1 which has 1 prong fits into the Socket bulb which has 2 prongs. Thanks mate. I really should have made the effort to investigate further. :)

No mate. Like you say I just saw that two prong adapter and thought it was a different type of bulb LOL. Auto Bulbs Direct have a Special Offer H1 Ultra Power Bulbs 50% More Light £5 for the Pair. Or H1 ABD 12V 55W Xenon Ice Blue Bulbs £8.99 for the pair/£12.99 for two pair. I may as well change all 4 bulbs at the same time.

That's exactly what I did the other day - the dipped bulb blew so thought I'd swap it with the main beam bulb as a temporary fix. Took the rubber cover off and oh no! Looks like a different bulb type!

Got a pair of xtreme vision bulbs coming but those deals you found sound pretty good!

I am not the only one then :D
I got the bulbs, 4 for £12.99. Put them all in and they are working great. Much better than the old ones. No doubt about it though, the Dipbeam where the washer spout is a right pain to replace even with the help of Matt's pictures to help. I dropped a bulb in the light unit but there was no way I could reach it with my hand. I put some small kids magnets in a shopping bag, twisted and twisted it, put some gaffer tape around it and it was like a flexible piece of rope with a magnet on the end. I put it in the hole of the light unit and bingo. The magnet picked up the bulb and I was able to finish the job. I feel quite chuffed with meself. Now for a beer. ;)
