Hi.
I've just recently bought a 1.8 sport but unfortunately it has clearly been scraped on both front and rear bumpers ... Resulting in a black patch on both.

Has anyone tried touching up large areas of paint with any success? I'm loathed to pay for new bumpers or a re spray - currently don't have the money.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Jon

I have the same problem, after someone bumped into the back of my car in a car park. The paint is crazed and peeling off

Your best best is masking off the area with masking tape and newspaper and keying the serface ('til smooth) then 2-3 coats of primer and ~ 3 coats of whatever colour your car is. You could take it to a specialist but it will probably cost over £100 - £200 a bumper.

Yes just repaint. i would not bother with primer - takes a lot of paint to cover it. Just rub down with wet and dry until smooth, mask off, can of spray paint to cover with several coats. Then cut it back and finish with t cut and polish.

I also have a big scruff where paints has come off, one painshop said around £80 for SMART repair or £100-120 for respray, thats an estimate without looking at the car.

I have just bought another accord. There are some scuff marks.

A can of spray paint cost about £9. I have some clear coat left from the last one.

Mine seems to be a non common colour - Magnetic Blue, so will have to get a can mixed.

A professional body shop charges about £250 a panel. Not worth it on an old car.

I got qouted £120 for full respray of rear bumper. Which seems decent, but not familiar with the quality of work by bodyshop I got qoute from.
