Lads,

I'm new to this site but I'll try and keep this short. I had 2 faults in my accord recently. I had to disconnect the HFL module and replace the multi-switch control unit at the drivers passenger door(all windows etc). I did disconnect the battery to do this but after connecting the battery again the key wont wirelessly unlock my car.

If I enter into the car through unlocking the door the alarm will just keep going off.. Where exactly would the IR receiver be in the car?? From the locations of where I was working, could I of disconnected the receiver??

Thanks for everything

Ryan

the alarm on the 7th gen is weird (can't speak about other gens, might be same)

whether you lock the car with the remote or with the key, if you then unlock with the key, the alarm goes off. Very annoying.

No idea where the receiver is in the car

Really? I don't think mine does that. If memory serves, when I unlock with the key, the light flash to show the alarm has been disabled. I could be wrong though.

Thanks bud.. Its the sorry of my life.. Fix one thing.. Break another..

I cant find my spare key and the screw head was always in horrible shape to try a new cell battery on this one.. BTW.. If the LED still lights up with the press of a button on the fob.. Can that completely rule out the cell battery being dead??

Thanks again anyways..

Hi Steve, my 2006 model goes mental with key in door entry.. Might be different with others..

Mine too, very embarrrasing ps. whats the best to shut it up when it starts ? just get in and drive, pretending it is;nt you.

A thread not long back suggested placing the metal of the key in hot water causing a little expansion and freeing up the horrible little screw.

thread hijack in progress LOL

but yeah, it definitely has to be unlocked with the fob, not the key. Battery in my "daily" fob has gone flat, car is SORN round the back of the house, I have to unlock it with the spare key from my safe. To change the battery, you have to unscrew the screw on the key, several threads on this, couple very recent (battery change is on my list of things to do, but near the bottom of the list).

edit: the key will unlock the car and let you in, but the alarm goes off, no idea how to stop the alarm without a working fob
