Hi guys just a quick one, one of my xenons went yesterday so got replacement bulbs.
Do i have to remove the light to do this?
I have had a look and it looks like there are two screws with a metal clip holding the bulb in plece !!!!!!!!!!!!! Not cool.

Any help would be great guys.

***uming you have a petrol model then you can change the bulb with the headlamp still in place. However its a fiddly job that needs smalls hands. There should be a part which unclips that will allow you to remove the bulb. There should no reason to take any screws out.
Hope that helps

usually its a twist and pull but for some reason it looks like its held in with a metal clip and two small screws. i can get my hand in there but just wont unclip or twist, I dunno to dark now will have a ganders tomorrow.
And yeah its the 2.4 petrol 2003 type s.

Cheers for the reply though bud.

Dave have you got factory fitted HID'S as some early Accords had these.
If not its just a case of unscrewing the plastic cap/Taking the cable off the lamp and undue the metal wire clamp that holds the lamp in position.

Morning Bud

Thnik they might be factory fitted.
when you unscrew the black cap and look inside i can see the black plug but it has a metal clip and 2 screws holding the clip in place. i maybe wrong but it looks to me that you need to get the clip out before you can remove the plug.

cheers for the replys guys.

They sound very much like OEM bulbs. If so then in many cases you do have to remove screws to get the bulbs out. The packaging for the the new bulbs should say what type they are - can you tell us what it says?

Given the cost of genuine HID bulbs it's not something I would try with the headlight unit still fitted to the car. I hope it is the bulb that has failed and not the ballast (equally likely to happen).

If it is just a standard H1 bulb which I suspect it is they are quite easy to change, I've just changed one of mine and it only took 5 mins.

Remove the rear cover.
Pull of the red cable though you can remove the black one too if you want.
Look at the metal spring clip and you should see a small loop towards the top of the bulb.
Push this hoop in towards the headlight bulb and it should release and move to the side slightly and then hinge back and down.
This then releases the bulb which can then be pulled straight out.

Picture of the back of a standard (non-HID) headlamp on this thread - http://typeaccord.co.uk/forum/topic/12068-diy-7th-gen-dipped-beam-headlight-bulb-change/ If your's look this then it's easy, as Dave says. If it looks very different then the headlights are OEM HID.

Dave you don't need to take the 2 screws out as Dave G said just unclip the spring clip from the lamp. The lamp has a grooved edge and will only fit 1 way so take note when it comes out.

Cheers for all your help guys thats exactly what i was looking for.
That does look real simple now. Ha

Will give it a go later on.

Cheers dudes ;)
