Hi everyone, the check engine light come suddennly when I spead up around 3500rpm and have reserve on petrol. Then after some driving also VSA light come on and the car went into emergnecy mode, I could do only around 45mph and it didnt react to gas. after stopping for around 20min I started the car and VSA was off however check engine light stayed. Later I went to see my friend mechanick and when he connected the comp it shown himlow pressure on turobo. However hemanage to delate the error and check the car and everything seems ok. It happend again after some driving and this time computer initially register problem with the sensor of accelarator but after some checking it come up that everything is ok. My mechanick clean Erg, air flow meter and changed petrol filter. everything seems ok and after one day of driving the light Check engine again come on today when I was on 3rd gear with around 3500rpm. Anyone have any suggestion as to what can cause this problem ? It honda accord sport 2.2icdti, 97k miles, thanks for any help

I ***ume you mean diesel rather than petrol in your post. A few questions

1. Is a genuine Honda fuel filter?
2. What's the mileage/kilometers on the car?

If you're getting low boost pressure it could be a few things:

1. Malfunctioning ERV soleniod
2. Leaking pipes from the turbo
3. Sticking vanes in the turbo
4. MAP sensor

<edit> Oh and the FSV could be in the middle of this too

Hi,

1. it's not genuine, it's the one from euro car parts for £10
2. mileage is 97k

Regarding low pressure, it came up initially as the first problem but after some checking there was no problem with this again and later the comp did not recognize any problem, however is that the first thing that should be checked properly, I mean low pressure ? Also why did the VSA light disappear after the stopping is it normal ?

I would start by changing the fuel filter with a genuine one from Honda. These engines are very fussy indeed.

Ya first thing to do is get a genuine fuel filter from Honda, vsa lights could be wheel sensor, did any other fault codes appear when ur mechanic did diagnostics?

Yeah, if you are getting low pressure then there's a boost leak or pressure mis-match somewhere. Checking hoses is the an obvious thing, but as I said it could be an ERV solenoid or MAP sensor or veins, etc.

Re the VSA this *can* be impacted by the engine cutting power as when VSA kicks in it'll cut back on the fuel to the engine to help restore traction. This is detected by ABS as an uncontrolled stop and will trigger activation/fault. Normally when you stop the car and turn off/on the ignition the VSA resets itself - only if the error re-appears would I start checking that.

Hi,

The car is going to the garage for the weekend however today while driving VSA light come on twice and what I notice is that it is choking on low Rpm somewhere between 1000 and 2000, because later when I accelarte it goes ok, but when I keep in this range it's like blocked. i hope it's not gonna be very expensive , let you know when find what's the problem,

Thx

It could be two separate issues i.e. a bad wheel speed sensor and sticking egr valve, or it could be one problem which is normally a Accelerator Pedal Position sensor on these cars.

Is the TPS a common fault on the diesel? What fails?

Oh yeah the computer did show once the problem with Accelerator Pedal Position but later it disappear so only the disel filter was changed but as you said maybe this is the issue, hopefully by Monday will be sorted.

You can sometimes get away with cleaning the connector but really you need to replace the unit.

It's a sealed unit, and I'm not sure what fails but its likely to be the potentiometer inside the unit.

Thanks for the update!!

Hi,

Pick up the car on Monday, the problem was accelarator sensor, however I did not change it just my friend cleaned the connector, so far after two days of driving evrything seems fine, hopefully the problem is sorted, thanks all for advice.

No probs, you're very welcome and keep us posted if it comes back.

Update,

-unfortunately today the check engine light come on again so it looks like cleaning connectors did not help, I need to replace the sensor and found already one but from Honda Accord Icdti 2004, does anybpdy know if the one from this model will fit my Honda 57? Or maybe you knwo where I can get spare partbecause I am not sure if I want to buy brand new dor £200 from Honda
