2003 Acoord Tourer
Hey all, have been doing some digging on the net about this code as me 2003 2.0ivtec accord has sprung it up. As you all seem more knowledgable than most does anyone have any pointers? Have so far changed the oil and filter and took the vtec solenoid off and cleaned through/checked the gauze was clear. Thanks very much in advance.

I'm a vehicle technician matey so obtained the code myself using a Obd2 Reader.(generic one). Guess in this post i should give a little more info. the full code is P2647 "Actuator Rocker Arm Control System Stuck On Bank 1". The light came out about 100 miles ago and the revs were limited to 3k like it was bouncing off the rev limiter. Same day go the car into work and cleared the code. Stayed off for maybe a few days at best. Re-cleared the code and drove home only for the light to come on after my 7 mile commute home. Did some digging and found that the vtec solenoid/vtec pressure sensor can be an issue. So removed the unit from the back of the head yesterday and cleaned through witrh brake cleaner. Checked the gauze to make sure it wasnt blocked and refitted the unit. Car was ok again for another 35 miles or so then the light came back on. Spoke to a Honda dealership this morning about getting a vtec pressure sensor ordered who mentioned that an oil and filter change can some times help the situation. So have since done the oil and filter at lunchtime today. Ran the car for a further 80 miles this afternoon only for the light to come back on.Hope this additional info helps. Thought i'd ask here for any input before i start spending any real money. Thanks in advance. Martyn
 
I don't think that's an issue I've ever seen here before mate. It might just be a bad part that needs replacing, although very rare to fail indeed.
 
Not sure that makes me feel any better F6HAD but thanks. Have a sensor coming from honda tomorrow will try that and see. Thats to the tune of £70 anything after that im gonna have to consider when is a good place to stop as is then possible solenoid, Head strip or worse case ECU. Had the car less than a week so slightly gutted to say the least.

Lets hope its a one off and was just the sensor itself
 
Used the car hard that evening so the vtec was being forced to work and have since redrained and reffilled the oil. light has stayed off for the last 150 miles so fingers crossed. If an oil and filter change sorted it i'll be a happy camper. Martyn
