Hi all, would this be compatible with my Accord CN1 ?

It may well be the cylindrical body differs, but would the multiplug fit and the actual sensor portion be able to be unscrewed and swapped over ?

What do ya's think?? worth a punt?

same engine same MAF. so there is your answer.

you can remove the MAF from the housing easy enough. usually they are fixed with a T25 torx security bit. not sure on the accord though without looking as I have never changed one on an Accord.

....seller confirmed the Honda part no. matched mine ( 0 281 002 658 ) so I just bought it.

Worse case if it has no effect on mine....I'll sell it on.

Also, tracked down and bought this MAP sensor for pennies :-

Hi All, got the MAF in the post tonight but probably won't get chance to fit until Friday afters. Hope the MAP sensor would of arrived by then too.

Can I please you ask for a sanity check here ?? Am I correct to ***ume the MAF and the MAP have got integral temperature sensors built in ? i.e. its not just pressure & flow being measured...its also upstream of turbo / downstream of intercooler air temps that are measured with the MAF/MAP units.

....or are there separate IAT sensors located elsewhere which I have overlooked ?

cheers

Yes both sensors contain the temp sensors also, the only other temp sensors are coolant sensors.

Hope you notice a difference, personally not sure about using a second hand MAF sensor, but hopefully it works for you.

The MAP sensor is an interesting one, it is an after-market one, possibly made by Facet, could you be so kind as to compare it with the Bosch one you replace it with and see if there are any differences.

Will also be interesting to see what differences you get.

Will do Carl. I plan to first fit the MAP to see if I can notice a difference.
Then I'll move on to the MAF.

stay tuned..... :)

Preliminary feedback:
i) fitted MAP sensor on Saturday, no noticeable difference, still smoking on minimal load. ( noticed the old one was really crudded up again despite a major strip & cleanout of the intake around April/May )

ii) fitted MAF yesterday, no noticeable difference, still smoking.

The recent lower ambient has also brought back the stalling/irratic idling problem too. Dangerous when your coming of the motorway into standing traffic queues and the servo isn't powring the brakes :-0

So...I'll give it till next week to see what miles I get out of this weeks fuel tank , then basically I need to sell the MAP/MAF sensors to fund the next pursuit in Sputnik's ailments..

Next on the list is to try and prove whether the EGR is behaving properly. I wouldn'y mind getting a pin-out diagram of the EGR to test its operation. The fact that my inlet seems gunged up again so soon implies the EGR my be letting to much exhaust gas through.....and I still feel thats the answer too my irratic idling/stalling.

In the past few months I've spent a £grand on this car ! and still it plagues me :-(

Just think one of our EGR OFF's could potentially have saved you all this hassle and money, quite possibly.. I did try and tell you.

Faddy , EGR is next on the list mate..., but to be fair, others including you did previously suggest MAF/MAP, hence why I needed to prove/disprove that theory.
Next week I'll be cleaning and selling on the MAF/MAP to help fund the next step.
Rather than just scrub it off the ecu map, I actually wanted to investigate whether it was ok or otherwise sick/lame/lazy.
This is because there is still a chance the problem is fuel injector related.
......eeee. where should I hemerage money next.....EGR or injectors?? Decisions decisions :)

Well I changed the EGR Ian as part of my mission on finding an issue with mine and it did naff all. Saying that, injectors are pricey to say the least! There is the odd place that can test the injectors, near me there is a bosch diesel injector specialist that can check injectors.

Ian you need to put it to stock and take it from there, all this diagnosis is pointless on a tuned car.

This issue has dragged on very long its true :(

I've fitted a new IMRC valve which stopped the ecu light popping up...but that no noticeable effect otherwise.
I've had the exhaust manifold sorted and turbo checked out ok.
As above its sporting a new MAP and a MAF from a CRV.

Yet its still doing poor mpg, smoking and irratic idle.

I do hear what you are saying Faddy and I know you must be frustrated repeating yourself, but only getting 36mpg is an underlying problem eccentuated by the fact its got a Dimsport skeleton map.
But my mindset is to focus in the symptoms and compare them to what the symptoms would be for i) faulty EGR and ii ) faulty injectors.

Nesh...did you have similar symptoms to my car? Did you get injectors checked?

In the civinfo post, CJ suggested the injector route. So I'm in groundhog mode .........EGR or injectors?? Decisions decisions

I had my injectors checked and recalibrated by HH. To be honest I didnt notice any big changes, but I have done everything you have and more, sometimes more than one thing at a time. I personally would look at removing the remap you have had and like faddy said, take it from there! My mpg was kicking around the mid 30's like yours, but since all the changes and going back to stock map I generally get 43-46 on my mixed motorway town runs and if I do a long motorway run its around 50 (thats calculated and not going by the on board computer)

Is yours a facelift?

..interesting story NESH, the mpg certainly mirrors what I'm getting, and this ties in to the CJ post about injectors. Mines a 2004 pre-facelift

So lets summarise from your perspective:-
You were gettin mid 30's mpg, but what symptoms were you experiencing? smoking / starting / idling / hesitation / noises
You had your injectors recalibrated, but didn't notice a difference. Were the injectors physically removed and pressure tested/spray pattern checked etc?
What other things did you do other than MAF / MAP / IMRC / exhaust manifold?

Something got you back from mid 30's to mid 40's mpg, It can't just be fairy dust got sprinkled on it :)
