I have had my V6 for two and a half years. It's a silver 1999 'T' with 105k and in good nick. Huge wad of service history, 4 good Michelin Premacy HPs, new Honda battery and entire new cat back OEM exhaust last year. The only problem I have had with it other than consumables was a hot starting issue, which was resolved by buying a new main relay from Holdcroft. The headlight washers have stopped working (relay clicks but no pump action!) and the drivers seatbelt is slow to retract but that's literally it in terms of problems and as ever it sailed through the MOT, next due in March 2015!
In essence it is a great car with a lovely smooth engine and it really is a testament to Honda engineering. It is also nice to own something rare and distinctive and in my opinion a shape that has aged well.
But, and here's the but, I fancy a change. With the kids growing fast, 4 doors would be good and I have set my heart on a facelift Saab 9-5 Aero estate as a family wagon.
The dilemma is the V6 is simultaneously a great, reliable car but one that has very little value! Selling it for potentially an insultingly low value given the lack of demand for them, stretches even my most manly of man maths and seems foolish. I find myself sometimes wishing it would go bang just so I can justify the change!
Has anyone else faced a similar dilemma?
