What's new

ctdi rear brake caliper replacement/options

just buy the 4 litre bottle of DOT4 from halfords for 18 quid or whatever it costs. you arent going to be racing (no matter how fast you "think" you are!) in the accord so standard fluid will be fine.

ffs, i changed the brake fluid on my 500bhp race car the other week, went racing at blyton and didnt notice any difference between that and the usual motoc 600c stuff i use.

WOW!

So today I managed to get the rear calipers, brembo discs and pads and hel brake lines fitted. Now the brakes are rubbish!!!!!! They are extremely spongy and have very little bite. My foot can be pressed right down to the floor while stationary. Is this because it's all New and needs time to settle or is something wrong here? If I have to brake suddenly I don't think I'll stop.....

You have air in the system. Did you pressure bleed the system? The bleed sequence is also NSF, OSF, OSR and finally NSR.

New pads always need a little wearing in. Then again, there could be a little air in the system. Give it a couple of days and if it's still no good, take it back to the garage.

i took it back today and the brakes were bled again and it feels much better now. still not wonderful but i can stop...... there was still air in the system apparently. lets hope its all out and the brakes can settle in now.

here is a pic of the new calipers, discs and HEL lines. i think someone wanted to see them :)
