Hi, guys, today I've noticed strange issue with my dashboard illumination, it doesn't light up when I'm opening door, so when I take out the key from the ignition and open the door dash should light up as before but it doesn't, also when I stick the key in and I'll turn from position I to II dash will dim first for a sec and then light up as always, to show you what I mean here is short clip ;-) btw, sorry for polish language, but I'm sure that you'll know what I'm talking about :)
0:02 doors open dash not light up
0:17 turning key from pos I to II dash dim first before they light up normally
0:37 key out from ignition, dash not light up

I ***ume your door switch is ok? When you open the door with the ignition on does it get indicated on the dash?

The lighting of the gauges is triggered by the door switch.

yes, door switches are ok, interior light works and it's indicated on the dash that doors are open.

Ok, so simple question, is the brightness dial turned up? I think you've a facelift? Let me check the circuit diagram for this.

everything works as it should, brightness knob works, all gauges works, only dash not light up when doors opening, but I noticed that, when I lock the car with key then unlock it again then dash light up when I open the door, but if I only put the key in to ignition and then remove it stops working, yesterday I was doing some work around turbo-intercooler pipe I was removing air filter box and battery so maybe I could damage something in the relay harness and all this boxes with the fuses under the bonnet?

Ok, the gauge is triggered by a CAN bus. You can run a diagnostic on this by doing the following:

1. Push and hold the trip/reset button
2. Turn the lighting switch ON.
3. Turn the ignition switch ON.
4. Within 5s turn the lighting switch OFF, then ON and OFF again.
5. Within 5s release the trip/reset button, then push and release the button three times repeatedly.

You will be in diag mode then.

Each press of the trip-reset button to see the tests run. If you get and Error on the segment display (where your mileage is) then you've a problem with you CAN bus.

To exit this mode, turn the ignition off.

Did you just try disconnecting power at the battery for 20 minutes? There's two fuses for the gauge one under the bonnet and one in the car - but then if they were gone you wouldn't get anything!

I've tried this before few times without luck, after all steps nothing has happened, I did self diagnostic using paper clip sticked into OBDII connection, but I can't read this flashing code :/

yeap, I've tried with battery, also fuses 7 and 21 were checked.

You might need to get a HDS on it to read if there's any DTC codes then.

after I did self diagnostic I got B1060, B1325

B1060 - Relay Control Module lost communication with Gauge Control Module (VSP/NE message)
B1325: Intermittent Wiper Functions But Auto Wiper Does Not Function

So really you're problem is B1060. You've an F-CAN problem. You'll need to clear the DTC using the HDS and see if it goes away.

Othewise you're checking the cables and the door ECU.

BTW - you'll find more details here:

Thanks a lot for your help, much appreciated, I'll try to check cables and fuses around relay, will disconnect battery and we'll see if it helps, if not I'll clear them by HDS, do you know what may caused that?

Typically electrical noise. This can be caused by poor connectivity (i.e. a loose connection), aftermarket HIDS or other type of devices that introduce EM noise around the system. Normally removing the noise and clearing the DTC resolves the symptoms.

I hope you're right, I'll try to sort it out tomorrow, I'll get back with the results, thanks once again ;)

No problem - I hope it works out for you. Do let us know.

Greg bring it over to Halifax one day, I'll sort it out for you.

Thanks Fahad, I'll check connections around relay harness and all fuses, if it won't help I'll contact you so I'll pop in whenever is convenient for you, tbh I need to sort it out asap as I'm going to Poland in next week, so the car have to be faultless before 1200 miles trip :)

ok, so I checked all connections and fuses and it seems that all are fine. After checking everything I disconnected battery for about 30 min, when connected back I did self diagnostic and I got only one code B1325, but it doesn't changed anything in the dash illumination, so still not light up when opening door :( I think I'll come with the visit to you Fahad ;-)
