How do I change gear box oil 2.4 type s manual, had the car 8 weeks and gear change seems clunky and stiff going from 1st to 2nd at high revs. Has a bucket load of service history and receipts and can't see the oil ever being changed. It's just hit 80k. First post and first Honda :)

the instructions are in the back of the owners manual

loosen nuts on n/s/f wheel

back wheels on bricks and fronts on stands so the car is level

remove n/s/f wheel and you'll see the drain plug and filler plug

drain plug is 3/8 inch square fitting and filler plug is 17mm bolt

loosen both before removing drain plug

drain old oil and fill with new until it starts seeping out - takes about 2.3 litres

replace filler plug and you're done

most people use Honda MTF III but there are alternatives

I used Red LIne MTL ester synthetic and got great results - no notchiness from cold any more

That's great. Sounds fairly idiot proof (hopefully) I was told using a different oil can help the notchyness , someone else recommended millers nanotech but that was £35 per ltr. is the redline oil exspensive?

stick to Honda MTF3, and you don't need to remove the wheel. Did this in my brother's K24 not so long ago, it's very easy.

one thing to add which may make it easier (which i wish i had done) is to drive the car onto blocks of wood to raise it (at least the rears as I ***ume you you will jack up from the front anyway). You then dont need to lower the front of the car to the ground as much to get it level when filling up as you need the car to be as level as possible when filling. If you jack the car up from the front, your car will slant to the back is what im trying to say lol

Also HH do a good deal on MTF3, which is more than sufficient for any Honda gearbox.

Thanks for that ,its payday next week so il be doing it then. Fitted a k&n cone last night which sounds amazing so need the smooth gear change for all the high revving I'm gonna be doing to hit that magical sound. Lol
