Hi have any members had a DPF delete, I had to have a regen in early December, while talking to the technician he had already done 9 that wk he said my reading of 27 was not as bad as some others he had done some we're 30 ??? What does the reading 27 mean ???
This obviously is a bigger issue than Honda are letting on, was told if happens again would need a new DPF filter roughly £1200.
So need to know if there is a DPF delete for the Honda and will it be traceable in the mot

He's probably talking about the thresholds..

I'm also regenning them and would recommend removal. Selby is not far at all. I'm out of the UK until 19th Jan

Also on Facebook mate

With the dpf delete do you fit a bypass pipe?? If not where does all the soot go never saw a pipe on your Facebook page (Fahad)

These are Fahad's words in the section you can't yet access...
"We work in partnership with a local exhaust specialist that does the physical pipework for our DPF Delete solutions, so off he went whilst we worked on the ECU"
...which suggests that new pipework is fitted in place of the DPF section, as well as the ECU being modified.

The soot will then simply come out the end of the exhaust, just like my 7th gen (which never had a DPF). It then chokes polar bears and sad things like that.

Thanks Jon do you know if the removal is visible when comes to MOT etc has im aware its illegal to have the DPF removed or is it ?? i keep getting mixed comments of the internet, i hope im not posting anything untoward as i mentioned DPF removal on another forum and my post was removed.

I honestly don't know! I suggest you search the web for official VOSA or Dept of Transport guidance. But Fahad wouldn't offer something that was illegal.

Which website removed your post about this? I think it's a perfectly reasonable question to ask.

The physical work of removing a DPF usually involves a broom handle shoved up the inside the exhaust. The internals then fall out and the original pipe is then reinstated back on the car.

For MOT purposes if the car was fitted with an catalytic converter at manufacture it must be present at it's MOT test. This is only a visual inspection though so the 'stealth' DPF will be ok, ***uming it then still passes the emissions test.

The DPF removal will require an engine remap and the lack of DPF filter may provide a performance increase so best you tell your insurance company of your modifications.

My perception is that the innards of the dpf are removed, so from the outside, it looks like it's still there. This will *not* fail an mot and won't make the emissions bad enough to. Obviously the dpf needs to then be mapped out so that it doesn't regen anymore.

From an mot point of view, don't confuse catalytic converters and dpf's

Not a chance of me telling the insurance. Any1 had the DPF removed and remap????

Had the DPF removed and remapped 6 days ago and it's great! Fuel consumption went from 38mpg to 47mpg!

Will a dpf delete car pass an MoT test here, surely it will be tested to Euro 5 standards, so too much soot will be coming out and it will fail?

I would say you will only get soot or smoke under load not when the car is in neutral when they do the test.

Diesels are revved hard during the emissions test to check for smoke, so with no DPF??

Rich I had my old accord mapped and if not under load they don't smoke.

Guys rather than make your own ***umptions lets just wait for Faddy to reply. He's the expert and can give proper advice and facts. This is just speculation that is somewhat damaging Fahads product. Not fair to just make our own conclusions.
I will drop him a message to say that he has some questions.

I had my dpf removed last week & the ecu remapped.it passed its mot today no problems

Salams Saleem - thanks for checking in!! Hope all is well.

We've had plenty of DPF OFF cars through MOT now, zero issues. In fact we had my uncles 520D through MOT on Saturday without issue.

I have another Accord DPF this week, these are very regular for us.

Shabs - thanks for the concern bro, but I can't see anything damaging at all. People are just curious and asking questions for clarification from what I can see.

I think the MPG claims in that one post are a bit optimistic though lol

Also just to dispell some myths, it's actually not 'illegal' to remove the DPF but it may be classed as a modification so I guess you need to check with your insurance company on that. The remap is definitely required and is a modification, no ifs or buts about it.

As for the physical pipework, we have both options i.e. a new bypass pipe or use the existing shell and remove the DPF cartridge. It's a bit more tricky than simply using a broom handle as the DPF cartridge itself is made of (precious) metals. It varies on different vehicle applications but we use masonary drills and good old fashioned chisels and hammers. It's crucial to get an absolutely clean removal and the Accord's are especially tricky due to the design of the DPF in these cars (it has a bottleneck at the CAT end of the shell).

You also need to be careful to distinguish between the cat and the DPF, and again each vehicle manufacturer does it differently. The BMW 520D actually has a split DPF design where the pressure differential sensors are fitted in the Cat and the EGT before the DPF which is in a seperate cage. You also need to ensure that any sensors are removed before smashing out the DPF and then refitted. Damaged sensors will need to be replaced as the ECU still needs to receive signals from them, even if it's told to ignore them.

Also work in a very well ventilated area and don't breath the stuff in!!

The more cars we do, the more we learn and perfect our techniques to ensure we are more efficient with the next one. IDTEC's are a piece of cake for us now. Volvo's, VW/Audi pretty straightforward.. Mazda's can be tricky.. every car is different.

Another one ;)
