dvd player question

Mark, great you started this thread.

Guys if you can help the chap out diagnose if the rom is faulty/dirty lens as I sent him a dvd. The disc worked fine in my Accord so I suspect it's the rom drive.

His car never came with a disc, he's tried force download but gets a error/disc read.

...for whatever reason if the disc turns out faulty then just drop it back to me mate no worries.

Sounds like a dirty lens to me. I would have the lens cleaned. I've cleaned mine twice now

Just bought a dvd lense cleaner from pc world and tried it a couple of times but still doesn't work.

You have to take the unit apart. Lens cleaners are useless for this player

Right took the dvd player out today and strip it and cleaned the lense best I could, took me about 1hr and a half, I put it all back and tried it but still says dvd disc cannot be read, tried forcing it but nothing happens, tried to do it by starting from scratch,it says waiting for gps but after a couple of minutes the same message comes up dvd disc cannot be read. Has anyone got anymore ideas to what it can be, wish I new someone who had another disc I could try.

Not sure really. Mine was a 'disk read error' which shut the whole screen down then.
Are you sure the disk is compatible for 7th gen?

Also did you physically get to clean the lens? I had to remove the carriadge to get to it

Guys would the later version work, you know the one which comes in two discs. East and west Europe or is that hft model only as I understood it?

otherwise only thing I can suggest is pop it back to me, I can try it in a friends car to rule out the disc.

Hft disc won't work on a pre facelift car I think. Someone will confirm

Been in touch with honda today and they say the disc I should have should be black and gold not black and silver parts number 08a421d6030.

Hi I just bought a pre-facelift Accord (no HFT) and am having the same problem, I get the error message 'DVD Disc is reading an error' when I insert the sat nav disc (Copied). Is that the same message you are getting?

I don't suppose anyone would be kind enough to send me a known working disc to eliminate the problem.

If you live local to a member I'm sure someone would let you try their disc

Copied discs seem to fail to work in these cars, needs to be original for some reason

Yeah I just don't want to spend money on a genuine disc to find out that the DVD drive is actually the problem, or vice versa.
