ECU Light and Hesitation

Hi Guys,

Wonder if someone can confirm my prognosis, I've got a 2.0 Vtec F20B which the engine management light has now come on and its developed a bit of a hesitation when under steady throtle (i.e going 30 the car will accelerate then struggle). This has happened twice, I took it to a friend of mine that has a universal diagnostic kit (pertty expensive one) which came up with no stored codes and it cleared the ECU light. It was shortly after that the hesitation started to present itself and now the light is back.

I'm really hoping its just a sensor that needs replacing as I'm guessing its a fuel/air mix problem as I've recently replaced the plugs and the leads for decent NGK Iridium and Magnicore leads, could do without a serious car bill as I'm getting married next month and money is tighter than a **** retentive duck's **** hole...... Yes that bad!

Get a problem diagnostic mate. The ecu has logged the problem.

Yep it needs to go on a Honda HDS to log it. I have one.

The ecu will have saved the code that caused the light to come on.

In the mean time ensure the car has enough of the correct oil and you should'nt cause any hassle. When were the filters and oil last changed?

My guess from the info available would be O2 sensor, or something to do with the egr.

Thanks guys, yeah from my reasoning it's more than likely the O2 sensor being the sensor that tends to ware the quickest, Its got the right amount of oil but it hasn't had a change in 6 months so I'll ask my mate to do that when it goes in for its MOT next week. Last time I looked a week ago it was still a healthy dark brown color.

Its gone in this morning for another diagnostic check, I'll let you know what it comes back with.

Just had the call and it was the 02 sensor, high voltage on bank blah blah or something, getting it replaced.

130 quid out my back pocket (also replacing the air filter), good thing I didn't spend that much on my wedding ring yesterday!
