Engine cut out

An interesting one this.

I accelerated in third and the car got to around 3k revs and coughed and spluttered. As I eased off the power, the yellow glow plugs light came on as well as the malfunction indicator light. The engine then died.

After a couple of minutes the car restarted and I was only 1/2 a mile from home so drove v gently - all seemed ok with the starting and the glow plugs light did stay on or come on.

I have noticed the car cough and splutter before under hard acceleration, but after easing off the car has been fine.

Any thoughts apart from taking it to the garage?

Fuel filter blocked or egr valve

Will have to have a chat with our friendly local mechanic - have seen elsewhere on the site that it is best to use a Honda fuel filter. The car was serviced recently so I suspect non-Honda was used!

Have had a friendly chat with our local mechanic and the code from the engine management system says 'fuel rail pressure low' - suspect this may paint a different light on the egr valve or fuel filter?

Has anyone else had this fault?

Low fuel pressure could be fuel filter.
