Hi,

I have a 54 plate Diesel Tourer.

It has a problem where it cuts out when it is hot (i.e. after 20 mins of driving). It usually cuts out when slowing down approaching a junction, but fires straight back up every time. Battery light etc comes on when it cuts out. Also the revs bounce when stationary and it feels like it will cut out.

It does this at complete random, it might not do it for a few days and then it will do it 3 times in a row. It is absolutely fine when starting from cold and driving when the engine is cold.

Have plugged it in to a diagnostic machine, which has brought up no error codes at all, also left it running for 30 minutes whilst it was plugged in but still nothing.

Fuel filter was changed recently and I'm ruling out the immobiliser as it does this on both keys.

Any one got any ideas?

Cheers

Was it doing this before the fuel filter was replaced? Is the replacement filter a Honda OEM (Bosch) filter? (this is important, the wrong filter can often cause problems).

Otherwise I can only guess at a sticking EGR valve.

Hi,

Thanks, can't honestly remember about the fuel filter, I did get it from Honda, but will have to check the invoice.

If you got it from Honda, then it'll be the right one!

But did the current problem only start after changing the fuel filter?

Possibly, I would say yes as I think I serviced it 5 months ago. Though wouldn't say the cutting out started straight after I changed it.

This could possibly also be the sign of an alternator about to go, I've seen them do allsorts of weird stuff on these cars.

But equally an EGR valve is a likely cause too.

I'm down in the South West next few nights, drop me a line if you are interested in a Honda diagnostic.
