I'm having my old F18B2 engine swapped for a newer, lower milage engine - also a F18B2. Only problem is... the engine I can get hold of is made for an Automatic transmission - I have a standard manual on my car, and I'm keeping it a manual :)

Is it possible to do this swap? If so, do I need anything special in terms of transmission housing/brackets and so forth?

Thanks!

I can't say for sure on Honda, but on other cars that I've worked on, you'll need to remove the fluid clutch and its bell-housing from the donor engine, then transfer the dry clutch and its bell-housing from the manual gearbox. It really depends if the fixing holes for the bell-housings and the driven-members of the clutches are the same. Hopefully someone else might know for sure on a 6th gen Accord.

Thank you for the reply. Just got it confirmed that the swap should be pretty straightforward. My mechanic will do the work tomorrow - too big a task for me to do alone ;) I think I'll put in a new clutch as well since we have the old engine out of the car at the moment.

The reason for the swap is that I had someone put in new valveseals and a new timing belt... and they got it wrong. The car didn't start after the replacement, with some bent valves as a result. It's actually cheaper to buy a donor engine than buying new valves from LingsHondaParts :)

Hope they gave you your money back! bloody monkey mechanics!

Yes, they did pay me for the donor engine. I get the work done for free.

I got a new clutch for the car yesterday. Can't wait to test drive it when everything is put back in place ( done right this time! ) :)
