Hi all. Right basically my Timing chain snapped the other day on my 04 Accord I-cdti. through some wise words from kind members on here i decided to put a cheeky bid on an eBay auction for and complete engine and gear box (in bits) from an 07 Civic i-cdti. The offer has been accepted.

Now I just need some help with regards to how interchangeable these two are, I think everything should be the same as its the same engine but some times there are little differences.
This new engine has crank damage apparently so is it possible to simply get new bearing and put my crank in his engine??.

also are there any power differences between the two??. are the turbo's the same etc just wondering if im getting any other benefits?? :)

since my clutch was slipping when the car was fully laden I might use his, or buy new. if I was having it remapped once done would you guys suggest an uprated clutch??

Sorry for all the questions but you guys are the ones to ask :)

Thank you ! Liam

Almost indetical engines mate except the newer engine has revised timing chain design to prevent from the problem which caused yours to snap. Also has a vaccum operated EGR valve and a few other minor things.

Try and keep your original ECU as the maps will be coded to the 5 speed gearbox ratios, wheras the facelift has different torque limiter settings for the 6 speed box.. And yes if tuning, I would recommend a CG Motorsport paddle clutch or you could get away with a stock clutch on our Stage 1 @ 180bhp.

Good luck with the install, and do take lots of pics so we can chart the progress of the engine transplant.

Hi F6had cheers for the reply and info. glad to know I can stick my crank into the civic engine :) and good news about the revised timing chain lol.
ow would the 6 speed box fit in the accord? that might be nice maybe? lol.

sorry mate do you have any links for the clutches just goggle and found the site but cant find any kits im probs inputting the car details wrong I went for cl7?

I will do, its going to take a while! as im in the middle of moving house, the new place needs lots of work so will be concentrating on that mostly. Will however take photos and post up when I can :)

sure ill be on here asking things anyway lol

oh is their any turbo differences or both as good as each other.

Same turbo fitted to both, and a 6 speed box from the Accord should fit - I guess the boxes are the same but I couldn't say for certain. I think the gear linkage mechanism will be different on the Civic to the Accord..

These are the guys for the best clutch on the market for the Honda ICTDI cars.

Speak to Linda, and tell her Fahad from Premier Tuning sent you - for a special price ;)

Recommend the stage 2 off Faddy with EGR delete, BUT with this stage ( as Faddy said ) you deffo do need the paddle clutch as the torque is amazing and the ordinary clutch cannot compete :)

OK fair enough ill go with the newer turbo then I guess. and might just stick with the 5 speed for ease lol.
thanks for that and tip off for the discount thats very! kind cheers. I will check her out see what's the dealio :)

Last question for now i promise ha, is there any where on here you can down load workshop manual for the accord to aid with the strip.

Hi Cliff, sounds great! will give it a good think over. just depends who much the clutch kit is it really. :)
