Extra RPM

In short, no. Only possible if you change the ECU which willl cost £££.

Even if you did higher the RPM limit, the heads internals will not be designed for that and thus you will cause damage. Then of course, the power will drop off very quick meaning your revs will be screaming, but you would most likely be going slower than if you just changed up a gear.

So yeah, don't even bother. Accept the 1.8 for the economic reliable engine that it was primarily designed for, not a high revving monster.
 
Can't see any performance benefit anyway, the extra boost in power and tourque you get starts from when the VTEC kicks in, i dont see anything extra when I redline mine and I shift quickly to stay in VTEC and in that powerband. As said by BlueVTEC, these SOHC are not the high revving performance engines like the DOHC counterparts.
 
only solution is u can get AEM VTEC controller. u can adjust VTEC engagement to 1500 rpm (just example) and have more power but more fuel usage
