Hi all, I don't have much experience connecting things to the Electrics.

If I wanted to install this

http://www.brodit.com/product.html?id=513303&pn=prod&brand=Samsung&model=Galaxy%20Note%20GT-N7000

Where would I need to connect it up?

Straightforward to do? Appreciate any help!

Probably the easiest place would be the back of the cigarette lighter socket.

I've just got a cheap ebay mount for my Note and use the cigarette light socket, cheaper and saves digging around the back but does leave one wire trailing up your dash

I have a couple broad-it holders. I Went for either side of the stereo, my Iphone holders between the stereo and steering wheel for easy access for calls and track changing (xcarlink via Bluetooth or cable) and on the opposite side I have my Tom Tom.

Ill get a picture up for you in the morning, hope it helps.

Thanks, will be useful to see where you have mounted it, appreciate your help! Also I'm trying to understand how to wire it up, and gauge if it's something I'll be able to do myself.

If you are going for the powered one (active) then it needs +12v and earth.
Easiest place to pick that up is remove the ashtray (2 screws) and then unplug the socket on the back of the cigarette lighter.
You can then tap in to the wiring here, and then run your wire behind the dash/stereo etc and come out near your brodit mount.

If you don't want to do that, get the passive one and a power lead that just plugs directly in to the cigarette lighter socket.

Thanks Dave - that sounds pretty simple as I've opened up the trim before. Here's where my lack of knowledge really shows - tapping into the wiring, is that by physically connecting the new wires to the lighter wires?

If you don't mind losing the cigarette lighter facility, you can just disconnect the plug from the back of it and connect your new cable to the old plug using spade connectors.
More likely, you will cut into the existing wiring to T off for your new cable.
All pretty easy once you get started, and as you have seen there are various connectors available that make it easy for you.
Just pull the fuse or disconnect the battery before you start.
