fob woes

How can something so small cause so much grief?
Opened car this morning with fob , drove to supermarket and it would not lock,
Tried all doors and NOTHING!
Tried madame's fob and she locked up.
Got new batteries and NOTHING!
Tried several times to reprogramme, NOTHING!
Took it to pieces , cleaned everything, NOTHING
I suspect it is terminal.
Has anyone used a company called Remote key repair who claim that they can fix it for £45 + vat + post?
Is there a better way?
Any advice appreciated

Cheaper to buy a fob off ebay and reprogram. Do you not have a spare fob to try?

only one of its kind on eBay is........... wait for it......... £234.
Anyway found a firm in Preston called OPTION 4 who fixed it while I waited, 15 minutes, for £20.
Result!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mine went on me the other week but I changed the battery and did the thing where you out the key in and turn it from position 1 to 2, pressed the fob and repeated it four times.
