hi guys,

Guess this is a better section than newbie for my problem....

Just got my car serviced at Benfield last week. Had to leave the car with them for a 4 days then picked it back up last saturday. While on my way back home (5 miles) and on monday after I drove around 15 miles the car started playing up a bit... From second gear onwards and after every gear change, for 10 seconds the car just didnt have enough power and just went at the speed I was going even though I had the foot down at times (engine was not revving at all but just wasn't enough power, but intermittent cutoff either). After 10 seconds it will pick up speed and respond to acceleration as normal. I don't think this happened when shifting at high speeds from 4th to 5th i.e. 40-50mph above... but it did at slower speeds upshifting and downshifting.

Today I drove the car for 80 miles (75 motorway) and no issues what so ever. Benfield had told me the clutch was slipping, today got it checked with a honda specialist and he says clutch is not slipping and he said while he was driving he couldnt fault the car.

Wondering what could it be now... please shed some light... It was serviced last week for 88K miles and the fuel filter was drained... it was replaced at the 75k miles service. Oh and I am 90% certain that element light didnt come on when this happened each time.

A.

Could still be the filter matey.

What happens if you blip the clutch during this dead spot? Certainly doesn't sound like clutch slip.

Air lock in your fuel filter. It might have been drained but then not bled correctly.

I didn't try doing that but will keep it in mind if it does happen again. its on diagnostic so I will post more info tomorrow but somehow I feel it wont show up anything

It might show up low fuel pressure.

P1065 or P1069 IIRC from the last time I had it happen, although the light flashed at me.

Did the engine feel restricted or just non responsive?

has it had new oil and filter ?

Why did they have it for 4 days, presumably you couldn't pick it up rather than them working on it for 4 days.

It may have been enough to throw a temporary code, but I think they are cleared after the next but one engine cycle, but hopefully someone can confirm how long temp codes are kept for.

Like Fahad said could be a bit of air in the fuel filter, or they didn't replace the filter last time, but then again strange for it to happen straight after a service.

When I used to pick mine up from a service the car sometimes used to feel sluggish, I always thought it might have been because they reset everything, then again maybe it was because they gave me a good extra litre of oil over the mark !!.

Double check your oil levels, just to make sure everything is OK.

See if it comes back, but from your description it is unlikely to be clutch slip, revs would be rising and then power jumping in.

I would go with fahad on this an air lock in the fuel system after new ff i persoom. if the ff is change the system needs primeing and bleeding the garage should have done this.take the car back and get them to sort it

This sounds exactly like the problem I've been having - I'm having a new frequency solenoid valve fitted on Saturday (I tried unplugging it and it seemed to solve the problem).

I'll let you know if it is completely cured once the new valve is on.

Edit - although mine does it in a specific rev band, (2-2,500rpm). I've also noticed if you push the throttle to the floor, release it, then push it down again it seems to work again!

got the car back today... it seems the car had registered two faults
1: temporary pressure drop on fuel rail... the mechanic cleared all codes for that after checking the fuel filter he said it looks new so let it prime and it should be fine.
2. something related with Turbo pressure! cant remember properly... but for this he said there was some vacuum in the actuator or something and he freed off and lubricated turbo actuator linkage.

overall the car is running absolutely fine and feels much smoother too. fingers crossed.

Could be a slightly seizing actuator but without knowing the codes its hard to say..

Fuel pressure is down to the filter which is veryyyyy common here.

that fault may allso have been left in the memory as a temp dtc when the filter was last changed. it generaly takes a few more cranks than normal when first starting and the preasure is low untill all the air is purged. depends whether it was primed enough after being changed. i would only be concerned if this dtc re-appears again. same goes with the turbo fault, if the car is running fine then not to worry but further investigation is in order if the dtc returns.

sure thing. all advise on board... I have learned so much about my car in the last 2 days that I have never known about it for past one year of driving it... But not to mention that this car is f...ing awesome. I drive 70 miles every day from middlesbrough to leeds for work and back. thats 140 miles a day... overall makes 30000 per year and it never broke down on me even once.... just get these serviced when due and it will keep on going.

Fahad I will find out the codes from the mechanic tomorrow. he said he should have it on his comp and he can text it to me.

Yup they are fantastic cars as long as you respect the oil and filter changes mate.
