Hello. I'm new to this forum but was on the THAOC forum previously.
I have a 2006 diesel tourer and over the past few months there has been a very slight occasional stutter that happened every few days. Then yesterday, as I drove down the A3, it had a sense of humour failure when I tried to accelerate quickly. The power tailed off and I pulled over at which point the engine died and the engine warning light came on. All the electrics were fine and it restarted immediately and drove ok for the next few miles.
I took it to a small local garage who used a generic SnapOn diagnostic tool that suggested it was a fuel pressure issue but couldn't say whether it was a sensor or the fuel pump. Hopefully I'll find out tomorrow when they borrow a Honda dealers unit. Does this sound more pumpy or sensory?
The car has done 82k miles and is probably worth £3.5k if I'm lucky (service/MOT/front tyres last week : ( ) and I'm thinking of getting a second hand until off eBay as £2k for a Honda part is not happening.
I'm ok with spanners and was wondering how difficult it would be to swap them over as I suspect the garage would not be happy putting in secondhand parts.
So does anyone have any knowledge about how to replace the fuel pump? Tips? Where is it??? Does it need priming afterwards????
