Gearbox whine

Hi guys.

Appologies if this has been covered here before, i did a search but it came back blank.

So another week has passed and another interesting noise has presented itself, this time as a whine i'm ***uming is from the gearbox. It's most noticable in 2nd and gets quieter in third and fourth etc. It goes away if i lower the clutch and coast. AFAIK it does this only when its warmed up but i dont usually have the windows down first thing in the morning when its cold so cant be totally sure.

As usual, all help is greatly appreciated.

Nobody has any idea what it is? I was thinking maybe it needs oil in it, or is my gearbox on its way out?

Obviously I'm hoping its perfectly normal but I doubt it.

i dont know of any gearbox issues with the accord.
does the noise happen when you just blip the throttle or is it deffinately your gearbox?

Afaik its the gearbox. It's there all the time its in gear. Especially 2nd. If I depress the clutch it goes away. Only when it warms up tho, I checked this morning.

Cant say there is any whining from my Accords gearbox but on my previous car there was a whine pretty much from the day I bought it with 90k on it. I put another 65k on it and the whine didnt get any worse or cause any problems. Basicaly im just saying I wouldnt worry about it unless it gets noticeably worse.

Get your gearbox oil replaced, I have done mine twice since in my ownership

MFT Is quite simple job to do, hope changing oil sort this

Ok thanks I plan on getting it serviced anyway. Any idea how much the parts cost? Will get my independent to do it, ill just give them the parts.

There is a small whine from the timing chain on diesel accords, and its normal!

If it's from your gearbox definitely, then I'd change the fluid for genuine Honda MTF3 fluid asap and if that doesn't cure it, have it inspected by a specialist.

I've seen engine failures on the accord but no broken gearboxes (yet).

Guys im not sure if its related but there is a thread from Bob with the same issue on a 2.4 8th gen.
