Well I decided to clean the swirl valve map and egr.

When I removed the swirl there was very little crappy in there but cleaned it up anyway. I was tempted to stop at this point since I thought this was where my issue was but since it was cleaning was gonna go back to the drawing board.

Anyhow, I did take the egr off which had a little crud in, then I stuck my finger into the manifold and my god!! There was so much ***** in there it must have halved the hole size. So I begin scraping it out with my finger but it wasn't long enough to reach the bend, so I got a small spoke and started digging. Put it all back together and the car fired up, possibly better than normal.

I left it to warm up, the went for a run and perfect. Car seems smoother than before.

Just put some bg244in with a full tank of bp ultimate , no local shells sell box, so fingers crossed. I have reset the trip so I will report back on the mph thread with a true reading.

Thanks everyone

TGFTA - Thank God For Type Accord

Well done if u read all that lot!

I would just like to add that if you haven't done this then do it! It's really simple, bit if you don't like getting your hands dirty it might be worth getting someone else to do it. Mine were completely black!

My car only has 60k on the clock so I never expected so much gunk.

My only concern now is how much o is still in the manifold, is there a DIY on this?

That's the beauty about this site a lot of issues/ problems are covered and it's brill when u can do some of the work yourself. Gives u a sense of pride :)

Sounds promising Chris.

I've had the manifold off fairly recently, to be honest the main area for the gunk build up is the port directly after the EGR and where the IMRC feeds in.

There was some build up, but whether it warrants the mess of removing the manifold ( you have to remove the fuel rail) at the mileage you have mentioned.

EGR seems a lousy idea on a diesel

But there you go

Great job Chris.
