Injector leak-back test

Some fuel will drain back, but it can't all drain back unless there is a leak somewhere on the fuel pipe/filter/hand pump up to the intake side of the fuel pump. But if there is an air leak then air will enter the lines back to the tank and cause long cranking to be needed when starting.

Doesn't explain the smoke though. As I said on the previous page, I think that could be a dribbling injector (likely to be the one that was emitting air bubbles on the leak back tests?).

I'll do the leakback test again as well just to be sure and see if the bubbles are still present. This time I'll do the test with completely cold engine as the Honda dealer suggested.

A little update.
Usually I start the car twice a day: in the morning to go to work and later to come back home. Today I used the hand primer before starting the engine both times and it started flawlessly. As flawlessly as one can start in -16°C (3°F).

About that intercooler... I just wanted to share these pics.

Replaced it today with an used one and the car already feels a bit snappier.

Still haven't got time to investigate the fuel lines though.

I think the correct technical term is 'mullered'.
