last friday on my way home from work i started to smell fumes in the car. the exhaust manifold was my first thought but knew it had been changed by Honda 4 years ago under warranty... today my car has been into Marshalls Honda Leicester to be diagnosed. the report back was that it isnt the manifold but fuel injector number 3. they said it requires a new seal and cleaning of the injector seat. they also said that it will need new fuel pipe as they cant reuse the old one once the injector has been removed as it wont seal right again due to the high pressure....... is this true, as ive never heard this before? they said 2.5hrs labour and may need new injector and additional labour if injector is seized and damaged on removal....

total cost £659.84............

this is their actual report statement -

injector no 3 leaking, reqs seal, fuel pipe, cleaning of injector seat, 2.5hrs labour. may require injector and additional labour if injector is seized.

ive just read through 'the hole' issue with injectors not being sealed right and he states he had his done at Honda for £100..... why am i being quoted £659.84?

do Honda want custom? this price is well out of order in my eyes.

Matt have you taken the cover off and looked for yourself. If its gone you should see soot around injector 3.
My suggestion is give HH a call for a quote as this seems very pricey indeed.Im not sure what the price is for a new injector TBO

A guild from lings if the injector needs replacing.

Mattlee a injector seal costs £3.40 from a dealer get a indie to see if just replacing the seal works cost me £36 labour and that was to clean all the soot and tar built up around the injector so all in £49/

/\ this. But you will have to hope that the injector comes out OK, or costs will rise.

You should be OK to re-use the old pipe, but I understand that Honda won't. I reused all 4 of mine when replacing the fuel rail, as the pipes need to come off with the rail. One of connections to an injector did leak immediately afterwards, but I simply re-tightened it and it's been OK for about a year.

Mattlee the reason they're charging so much is because it Marshalls. They run the franchises in Peterborough as well and are an absolute rip off.

The fuel lines to the injectors screw on. I don't recall anyone that has removed them to get at their injectors needing to replace them because they didn't reseal when refitted.

I'd suggest taking it somewhere that isn't trying to ramp up the price and take you for as much as they can.

I know few people who replaced their injector seals and that was the only cost plus labour, but that price from Honda is a bit ridiculous, as guys above said get yourself seal and DIY if you can if not give it to some garage it won't cost you fortune ;)

As per above if you can't DIY then buy the seal from Honda (buy a couple just in case) and take it to a decent diesel specialist who knows how to remove an injector from an alloy block. It's not that hard really and even I've done a few now on various diesels (not Honda however - yet).

i have bought the seal and a new pipe from Honda and have found a diesel specialists nearby that have quoted me an hours labor @£65 so inc parts less than £100 all in. this i dont mind paying, £660 is a complete joke.... no wonder their always empty and scratching their heads at Marshalls

yeah I must admit, there's not much reason for me to go to them any more, I keep getting calls from a Marshalls call centre, nice sounding young lass, tempting me with "special offers on servicing" ... "let me think about" I always say, until next time ;)
