What's new

Judder/wobble

It's becoming the norm that threads started for diesel problems are becoming riddled with anti-diesel comments...

The door swings both ways Jon, there's a lot of pro-diesel comments in petrol threads ;) . The point is Eric & Jon, argue to your hearts' content over who's got the better car, but do so via PM. The fact that you're comparing chalk and cheese a lot in other people's threads is a bit messy on the forum and not always fair on the OP.

I give up.
I think Jon its a case of not biting with Eric.
You no what he is like as he was the one on this thread that started all this.
I will clean the thread up later.

Just an Update, I was due to bring it to HH for a diagnostic check but sadly I couldn't make it on that particular day, but my Local Garage did have a look underneath and there is noticeable movement in the NS driveshaft that he says is excessive also there is a faint 'cracking' sound when the NSF Wheel is spun by hand, he said maybe the excessive movement in the DS has worn the CV Joint.

Other issues with it was the lack of Power, so he put in a code reader and it threw up 4 faults, now I already knew about one fault (p2004) So I'll need to order a new Frequency solenoid Valve, I disconnected it like many on here suggested and it did run better but nly for a while (it's still disconnected.)

The other three codes are;

P2008 - IMRC Valve Open, does this indicate the EGR Valve needs cleaning?
P1065 - Low Fuel pressure - FF change?
P1384 - Glow Plugs - hmmm.

Further update; - only one code showing now for some reason, maybe the others were stored by error? Only P2008 showing now.

I hope that VVTI isn't the 1.8 engine. They are infamous for short block failures due to oil sludging. It's a shockingly bad engine, and my uncle had to have his replaced on a 2004 Avensis (which he bought brand new). Check the Toyota forums, they are riddled with VVTI failures.

They are also oil eaters as are the 2.0 D4D's

I had a T sport 1.8 that drunk its entire oil capicity in 2 months & a D4D that needed topping up daily! I have no idea how Toyota got away with it. The 1.0 on the other hand is nothing short of legendary ;)

The lack of power you are experiencing especially at low rev's as you said earlier will either be your EGR sticking or it needs cleaning out, start with that first then you can test drive/run for codes again
