Hello,

Ive only had my car two days but it requires a service, I have sourced some oil however I am unsure if it is upto the standard required,
http://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-79208-gulf-formula-g-0w-30-fully-synthetic-engine-oil.aspx

I believe I need 6ltrs of this stuff.

Any other 0w30 recommendations would be much appreciated especially something cheaper as the 0w30 arent very pocket friendly.

Thank you.

Oh nearly forgot the car! Its a 2.2 ictdi diesel on a 55 reg.

Get the 20 litre drum of exxol from lubetech shop

The viscosity is more important than brand. Exxol is excellent value

I agree with fahad and edgeoftime

I agree, 20 litre drum is excellent value. There is also a discount code available from lubetech on here when you reach a certain amount of posts.

If a 20 litre drum is not feasible for your situation i.e. storage etc. Then i do recommend the castrol from opie oils.

I have a 10% discount code for opie oils, pm if you need it, coupled with opie oils free delivery it is not bad value for 6 litres of castrol oil

Hope it helps

So what's the deal with 5w30 being inadequate?

Does the heavier winter weight mean problems with lubrication on cold starts?

I believe it causes issues with the timing chain, and for the £6 it works out dearer for 0w30 its not worth taking the risk

Thought it was dirty oil that was killing chains?

I wonder if it creates issues with the tensioners?

Not 100% sure mate, mines overdue for its service by 3k unfortunately so I had to get everything in asap. If I could get away with using 5w30 I would but since most avoid it so do I.
