Hi.

The orange warning light came on so I took the car to be diagnosed. Although I forgot to ask for the code, the chap said it was a fault with the front left wheel ABS sensor. We chatted a little and he spoke about the cog/bearing thingy that has the teeth that the sensor reads may be damaged or even just clogged with dirt, giving a false reading and indicating a fault. I feel sure I have seen a write up on here about this, but I certainly cannot find it! Can anyone point me in the right direction please?

Many thanks.

It will be the sensor itself most likely.

The tone ring's built into the bearing.
As Fahad says, far more likely to be a sensor failure.

Best to remove the hub from the car if the sensor needs drilling out to remove it (common problem) as any swarf left behind can damage the tone ring, requiring a new wheel bearing ***embly to correct the problem.

As above the front sensor is probably seized in a requires the hub to be removed so you can punch it out from inside after drilling the sensor.
