Lightbulbs keep blowing

I own a 2004 Honda Accord Tourer, and the headlights have been pretty condensated and misty since I bought it in 2012. Had Honda attach the clips on the manufacturer recall which stopped some of the condensation, but ever since the continuous rain these last few months, the car is chewing up dipped beam and side beam bulbs. I've tried different brands but am pretty fed up now, so wanted advice on what to do?

Do I just buy new headlights? Are there any retrofit headlights I can fit? Am i best paying an auto-electrician to sort out the connections/overvoltage/earthign issues that might be going on?

I love the car otherwise but the headlights situation is intolerable. Even with all the bulbs in the car the light output is pretty naff. It's the worst feature on the car :(

How many bulbs have you been through? I had to replace mine on the Tourer recently....strangely just before the alternator failed....only once since I owned it....in fact lights are brighter now....have you checked the alternator....done the belt fix? Could be linked to the problem,,,,
 
i've been through about 10 or so in the last 4 weeks, side beams, headlights. Have not checked alternator, will be gutted if its that. Have been driving a lot in the rain and am guessing it is that.

Are the facelift headlights definitely the same fitting as the earlier headlights? I think I might have to go down that route eventually so if anyone knows where best to buy or if anyone is selling please let me know?
 
Its ****ing rain in Ireland since about 1956, my lights are fine. Is this petrol or diesel?

I got the HIDs are my beams are good.
 
Try puting some large silicon bags in the light unit behind the screw cap.
This will dry your lights outs and see if they still blow lamps
 
Yes the bags like in trainers
But you can get bigger ones on eBay for a couple of pounds.
I think there 5 gram bags and fit them to one side with Velcro.
This should get rid of the moister then take out and dry on a rad at home.
Then put back in there were a few threads hear how to do this but it a very cheap way if sorting this.
I think even some dealers had done this as a fix
This might not cure your lamps blowing but will sort the mist problem.
Also lots if members has gone down the hid route and has sorted lamps blowing
 
I had the same problem. I have put the sillca bags in but before that if you remove your high beam bulb and dry the headlight out with cool air (a compressor or a hairdryer that blows cool) this will remove all the condensation in the unit. I also bought Osram nightbreaker bulbs and the light difference compared to standard is amazing and i also replaced my sidelights with leds.

That was 8 months ago and all still ok
 
Honda put silica gel sacks in my dipped beams for me...there was a recall on headlamp sealing. Afterwards I still went through a heavy bout of blown dip beam lamps though (lasted a few months and was mostly Lucas lamps). But the Osram Nightbreaker plus 90% lamps I bought very cheaply from Amazon have lasted well over a year now.

You can tell if it's a moisture problem because the halogen bulb glass usually cracks (may be hard to see though). If the filament is simply hanging broken, then it might be a vibration issue. If the filament has exploded (and mirrored the inside of the glass) with no sign of a crack, then it may just be a voltage regulation issue (but I'd then expect other bulbs to be blowing as well). I can't see how either an earthing problem, or a fuse problem, might cause this.
