The egr valve is designed to recirculate some of the dirty exhaust gasses to try and reburn them to help reduce emissions.
Over time as these dirty vapours pass through the inlet manifold, they accumulate and block the passageways and also clog up the egr valve itself.
This can cause various running problems including poor starting problems. Removing it will ensure your car is only breathing raw and boosted air and give you a cleaner breathing and cleaner burning engine.
As part of the job we also add a stage 1 or 2 remap to improve the power curve to help with both drivability and economy.
I would still stay your likely cause here is a failed pressure relief valve, it's becoming increasingly common on these engines and the problem tends to manifest when the engine is warm.
