So, the Accord has been a legend over the past few months. In process of moving house and it's been invaluable on the DIY runs!

Took it on a long run down sarf this weekend, and did 700 mls.
I've worked out the MPG it's done over that (at least 650 of them motorway miles) and it's worked out at 24mpg.

The car was serviced in December, and is in otherwise perfectly good health.

Any common causes for the vtec engine to run like this?
Or any other ideas or suggestions?

A while back my O2 sensor went. I was losing between 50-75 miles per tank of petrol to what I was getting before. Presumably due to the engine not running as efficiently as it otherwise would. Although my check engine light came on when the sensor went. So I knew something was up and got it sorted.

Heavy right foot!?

How steady was you driving on the motorway and were you constantly in the outside lane?

Keeping it between 2-3K on the revs is the key. I'll get 450 miles at least on an all Motorway tank in my 2.4. But I keep the speed between 60 and 70 with only the occasional flutter (quite a granddad driving style I'm afraid  ).

450 miles if only my right foot will lighten lom

Cruise Control Baby  . I have to say I find it much harder to maintain good mpg if I'm in the car on my own, i.e. no Mrs and no son in the car, Daddy puts tend to floor it more B)

Maybe have a check of the air filter and just check the condition of that, restricted air flow can affect MPG for sure. Try simple things like that.
