Accord 2009 ES GT
Hi all, this is my first post.

Just bought a Accord tourer 2009 ES GT. Traded in my S2000 after putting over 100k on the clock ! I am intending getting the 2.2 Diesel engine re-maped by a local company in East Boldon, Tyne & Wear. stats are that it should be over 200BHP when completed. :p

Modifications to the external of the car will be minimal. Painted calipers with Mugen logo attached. Mugen bade on gill and discreet badges located on the skirt's.

All in all its a lovely looking car anyway and the original Mugen car does not look massively different !

Car is Cobalt Blue.

Will post picks and report back when complete

Nice car!Does the 2.2 GT have 180 bhp?

No need to wait till you put badges on it before posting get some pics up tonight would be good to see the car before you do anything to it.

Welcome along mate - careful who you get to remap those. There's not many tuning companies that can successfully remap the tri core protected ECU fitted to that car - it's a very involved process.

Make sure they don't over tune it too, it has a DPF and needs to be remapped carefully.

Ask CJ for a horror story on an over tuned one

Best of luck.

Ah, i was intending using PD tuning in east boldon, tyne and wear. they say they have the equipment and software for this ECU. I have had trouble with other company's stating they do not have the equipment. What horror storys ... do tell!

Never heard of them mate, but that doesn't mean anything. I don't want to cast dispersions on any company, if you feel confident they can do it - give them a whirl.

I can tell you from fact that the ECU will need to be removed, split and tuned directly on the board due to the tri core protection. It's a specialist job.

We can mobile tune these, but prefer to have the customer travel to our workshop in Leeds.

You're not a full member yet, when your post count increases (x8 what you're on now wink wink) you will be able to see the other sections, including the engine tuning section..

I'd also be very skeptical about the power gains.

Any car fitted with a DPF needs to be detuned over it's Euro IV equivalent.

A company in Italy over tuned a new Accord Type S past the 200bhp marker and destroyed the DPF, Turbo.. and engine. Honda took the ECU apart, discovered it had been tuned and refused the warranty claim.

Also check if this company will leave any trace on the ECU (i.e. soldering markers) We do not by the way ;)

OMG, will have to check them out a bit more then. Thanks for the information. I think i will give t a few months of having the car as standard first then get it done i think. Just out of interest what would you charge for such a remap ? And what BHP would you recommend i take it up to. I was thinking 185 to 190 would be adequate.

Thanks for the info regarding the forum as well. I used to use a S2000 forum when i had that and found it very useful. In comparison i thought this forum was quite small but thats because i cannot see some sections !!!! ;)

Thanks again

150BHP unfortunately , they Type S has the 180BHP. dunno what the difference is between the engines because as far as i know they are both 2.2 diesel's maybe just the map and a few tweeks here and there.

Nice car!Does the 2.2 GT have 180 bhp?

DPF is Diesel Particulate Filter

Pricing depends on whether you can bring it to us or need us to come to you?

I'll have a chat with Elite to see what we can offer for club members on the IDTEC now.

John, when we first started doing Tri Core ECU's we were charging around £500 inc.

We've since brought the prices down to £350 + VAT

The good news.. I've negotiated a club rate of £300 inc for all TA Members ^_^

A realistic gain is 35bhp and around 40 - 50lb/ft

Our new dyno will be installed by early November, if you want to wait till then we can organise a proper dyno run to plot the figures.

ok spot on,

if you keep me informed that would be great. ;)

You should be able to see the Elite Remaps section now so keep an eye on it.

Regarding the IDTEC's we can tune them right now, it's not a waiting game.

Can you re tune the ECU if the DPF is removed?

Yes of course, and in fact you can release a few more horses as the engine can be tuned better without a DPF restricting airflow and no consideration needs to be made for DPF regen.

Hi Guys,

My First Post ....

Remapping ... will it give my 2.0 v-tec some pep - or will the auto box always be a bit ponderous?

Just parted with a 1.8T Passat of 6 years aquainance (tears this evening - but a nice pile of used blueys on the shelf ready for Mr Banker) and I'm missing the turbo already!

Had the Accord 3 weeks now, it's my first auto - but I'm beginning to wish it was a manual and a 2.4!

The Passat forum was full of guys remapping their engines and I was tempted - but it's low torque horses seemed enough for me - so I'm interested to read about remapped Accords in here ... what's it cost and is it worth it (especially on an auto)?

Look forward to floods of replies ...

Cheers ...

Welcome to TA... Introduce yourself in the Newbie section and make a few more contributions and a whole new section opens up complete with a Remap specialist.

Welcome to TA.

If you're interested in tuning the Accord you should have gone for the 2.2 diesel or possibly 2.4 petrol.

The 2.0 petrol is extremely difficult to tune properly, and even then the gains are so limited you may call them negligible.

Hmmm ... sorry for not getting back earlier ... been away and enjoying the last 10k

I think I'm beginning to agree with F6HAD - wish I'd got a 2.4 - not into oil burners and thought 2.0 would be OK - shoudl have gone to spec-savers and read a few specs first ...
Thanks for the welcome, gonna do a bt more reading and posting - and learning!

It's first service (for me, 3rd for the Ex) tomorrow, I'll let you know what the techies say about the output - seems there's a bit of a deadspot on pull-away - or maybe that's the auto?

Cheers Guys

ps - I'll do the intro bit in a mo ... Thanks Mr Robinson

The local dealer did his bit - remapped to 'standard' and improved the pull-away, there's still a bit of a hesitation comparred to the old 1.8T Passat but it's much better. The dealer was happy to do this under the warranty.

They are also swapping the rear speakers (distorted sound) and have changed the rubber under the back edge of the bonnet to stop it fluttering.

Impressed by their attention to detail - nice contrast to the local VW stealer

Cheers, guys
