Honda Accord Exec
Hi All

Finally picked my accord exec auto up last night. Pleased with the drive and im glad i chose this over the 330i auto i was looking at.

Guys im after some advice really.

When driving between 75 and 81mph there is a whinning noise and its only heard when accelerator pedal is pressed. It doesnt matter if im cruising or accelerating the whinning noise is still there.

If i let off the accelarator and the speed drops between the 81 and 75 there is no noise.

Also when turning on a roundabout the steering wheel is pulling back towards center position and steering jerks back to center.

I noticed the front driver side alloy has a dent which might be the cause of the issues above.

The wheels have been tracked but this has made little difference.

Any ideas what it could be.

This might be a buckled alloy or a worn front suspension part or bush

Thanks for the quick response

Would the suspension part/bush flag up on the MOT. The car has just had an MOT done before I picked it up.

Interms of the alloy, should i buy a replacement or get this fixed - IF it is possible to repair dented alloys.

I will upload an image once i get a chance.

Maybe? Depends on if the garage doing the MOT is the same garage selling you the car ;) .

Check for wheel balancing, buckled alloys, wheel bearings, slightly rubbing brakes. These could all be a common culprit for noises. As for the jerking and tram lining you describe, you say you've had tracking done, so yeah, what Brett says, check out suspension parts. When my lower compliance bushes were worn, the car would do odd things under slow-ish tight cornering.

Thanks Steve

Well basically my mate works at the dealership and he got the mechanics to check it before i bought it. When I went to view the car I noticed the pads and discs needed changing and they then flagged this up to him. I'm feeling pretty confident they checked it properly but who knows lol.

I will get the alloy sorted first as it needs doing anyway and then do the rest of the checks for my peace of mind.

Thanks for the help Guys.

Will post outcome

Just as an experiment you could swap over the dented alloy to the rear to see if there is any improvement

The dented alloy is losing air, so just looking to buy another one. I got a quote for a full refurb and the dent taken out of the one alloy for £160, but i don't want to get them refurbed just yet. I'm still hitting the kerbs lol.

Got it insured yesterday so will start moving wheels forward and back once i get round to it.

Update
Bought another alloy yesterday and swapped it over.
The steering jerking has made a big difference. It's not completly gone but i'd say about 80% is gone.

Also decided to clean the leather seats. Tbh i don't think i will be doing them in a hurry its hard work with a toothbrush lol.

Guys how do i put photos up?

Upload the photos to photobucket.com if you had already signed up. Click on the photo, then copy and paste the IMG link in your post here

Thanks Andy, I will have to try and do that when I am at home. Work computers are locked down :(

P.S sorry for the late reply, been away on a work trip

The links work alright, but you need to improve your photography skills man :) :p
