New/upcoming MOT changes targeting dpf removal

Is it me or is this latest initiative to target removal of dpfs more real than previous attempts? Seems like at some point in 2027, the test will include a measurement of actual particulate numbers, which would make it impossible to pass if your dpf has somehow gone walkies.
I did read that it's not certain whether the new rules would be applied to vehicles registered before 2013.
What's everyone's thoughts on what to do if we end up being subject to the new tests?
 
when it actually happens, then it becomes real. Until then it’s really nothing new.
 
Let's say hypothetically that my car has had the dpf removed and been remapped . If it fails the mot could I fit a cheapish new dpf so it passes?
I'm guessing the remap will have rendered the ash counter redundant so would any emls flash up?
