Hi

I have a 2005 accord 2.2 cdti 175,000 miles on the clock.

There are no lights on the dash on however; there is no power at all in it. even in neutral I have to pump the accelerator and eventually it starts to rev. I then put it in gear and lift the clutch and pull away but not at great speed. Eventually is gets to the desired speed but sometime it goes into limp mode and I have to put the clutch down and rev it and then raise my foot off the clutch.

My brothers 2003 83000 miles has the coil light come on and goes into limp. Once that is reset it drives normally again until the next time. Mechanic says its a sticky turbo valve.

On my car the mechanic doesn't know whats wrong with it.

Please help if you've had any experiences like this and what do I need to do.

Sorry you have two Accord ICTDI's with similar problems?

You need a proper diagnostic session with a Honda Diagnostic System.

Chances are both are the same issue, which in my experience is a sticking EGR valve.

Drop me a line for details and pricing on diagnostics and EGR OFF solution if you need it.

If both these cars are going into limp mode, then there will be stored diagnostic trouble codes stored in the respective ECUs. So get all stored codes deleted (because some might be ones there have been there for years and are irrelevant), and see which codes come back and relate directly to the current problem. You need an OBD2 reader, which are cheap on eBay.

Once you can tell us the codes, we can suggest solutions.

Thank you for replying -My brothers car the mechanic said it says insufficient boost and when it is reset the car runs fine until it goes into limp mode and then he switches the car on and off three time with intervals and the car starts driving but it feels like there is no turbo kicking in. He had the filter changed and still the same fault.

My one the fault is coming up as the EGR. I spoke to a guy who does remapping to get the EGR removed and he says that these cars throw up a fault if there is no EGR and it doesn't work properly in his experience.

I have gone off honda and my VW passat 2001 240,000 miles was never like this.

Like I already said I can solve it if it's the egr and you will need to physically blank it.

Solved with egr off :)

Sounds exactly like what my car was doing - once I'd cleaned up the EGR valve the problem went away.

Then a visit to Fahad solved the problem permanently - for the same price as a second hand EGR valve which might not have lasted that long.

This one needed to be physically blanked.. Poor guys had already thrown money and parts at it trying to solve it, including a turbo!

Hi

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. Yes the car is running much better thanks to Fahad. I have also noticed that I have to race it everywhere to get the performance. If I'm doing 30 in third and going up hill for example and put my foot down the car starts to what seems to be choking. I have to drop it down a gear and thrash it to build speed again and then third and keep thrashing it to 50mph to get up.

Any ideas what this issue is. Otherwise its perfect and really recommend Fahad.

Adam - I know the car had been stood a long time, so do have it serviced first and renew all the filters especially the diesel filter. Please ensure you use genuine Honda parts.

if that doesn't solve it, the only thing I can point to is the cracked manifold which I suspect it has and also have the turbo actuator checked to ensure its set correctly. I know the turbo was unnecessarily replaced and you may have inadvertently created an issue that wasn't there in the first place.

The car did pass all the basic functionality tests so whatever the issue now, it will be minor.
