not my honda . dads toyota ?

my dads just been on the phone wants me to come and have a look at his Avensis tomorrow says he thought he had ran out of petrol but after putting a gallon in engine is now not starting and is turning over like there are no spark plugs in.. ie very fast
sounds like timing chain to me ?
anyone got any other ideas ??

Remove the fuel pipe and crank to check if fuel
Is coming through first

thanks Fahad he doesn't think it ran out. he normally runs it 50 miles after low fuel light comes on { for some bazaar reason} then fills to the top but engine cut out after 30 miles put the fuel in just in case it was .. but i will check

Plug in a scanner to check for any errors also

yip the old duffer had ran out of juice but it did take a fair bit of cranking over to get it going again
